A man in Woodstock, Illinois, was arrested for the sixth time for allegedly driving under the influence. Shockingly, the arresting officers later found that a six-month-old girl, the man’s daughter, was inside the vehicle at the time.

According to a press release issued by the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred on May 11, 2026. At the time, a Woodstock Police Department officer observed a man, later identified as 33-year-old Ramiro A. Sanchez, driving without a seatbelt.

While conducting a traffic stop, the officer spoke with Sanchez, but he was showing signs of impairment and struggled to answer simple identification questions. Furthermore, the man allegedly told the law enforcement agent, “I’m [expletive] wasted.”

A detention order obtained by Shaw Local, Sanchez was also allegedly unable to follow simple instructions, remained unsteady on his feet, couldn’t remember his birthday, and struggled to spell his own name.

6th Arrest, Daughter Found

Ultimately, according to the release, Sanchez was unable to complete any standard field sobriety tests and was detained. Additionally, an open can of alcohol was allegedly found inside the vehicle. To the officers’ dismay, a six-month-old child, Sanchez’s daughter, was found inside the car during the traffic stop.

This is far from the first time Sanchez has been put in handcuffs for a DUI. Records show that the 33-year-old man has five prior DUI convictions, including four in Colorado from 2014 to 2016, and one in DuPage County, Illinois, in 2020.

“This man’s decision to drive while intoxicated for a sixth time showed a complete disregard for the law, the safety of the public, and even the life of his own child,” the State’s Attorney’s Office press release reads. “Every impaired driver is a danger, but when someone chooses to get behind the wheel, allegedly admitting to being ‘wasted’ with a 9-month-old child in the vehicle, the risk of tragedy becomes unbearable.”

Facing Multiple Charges

As a result of his latest arrest, Ramiro A. Sanchez has been charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence (Class X and Class 4 felonies), and one count of endangering the life or health of a child (Class A misdemeanor). If convicted of his most serious charge, he could face up to 30 years in prison.

According to the aforementioned release, Judge Cynthia Lamb denied Sanchez’s pretrial release on May 12, a request submitted by the state. He remains behind bars, awaiting his next court appearance scheduled for May 26.
