A man in Little Rock, Arkansas, will spend over a decade behind bars after robbing three banks in the span of three months. In the last one before his arrest, he fled in a stolen vehicle, which ultimately crashed, leading him to flee on foot, with cash flying from his arms.

According to a press release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Arkansas, Freddy Najil will spend 211 months (almost 17.6 years) behind bars. He had previously pleaded guilty to bank robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The months-long bank robbery spree started back on February 9, 2024. Horn Lake Police Department officers in Mississippi responded to a Bank Robbery at Renasant Bank.

Witness testimony and video footage showed a suspect, later identified as Najil, was seen pointing a firearm at four different bank employees. In this first bank robbery, he got hold of around $2,724.

Second Bank Robbery

The second bank robbery occurred more than two months later. On April 18, 2024, Southaven Police Department officers, also in Mississippi, responded to an armed robbery at Securtrust Bank.

This second bank is located 7.1 miles away from Renasant Bank. That’s an approximate 16-minute straight-line drive on Goodman Rd E.

Najil, similarly to the Horn Lake robbery, pointed a firearm at one of the employees. After telling her “not to do anything stupid,” Najil left the bank. This time, he netted $12,251.

Third Bank Robbery

The third bank robbery came weeks later. On May 3, 2024, West Memphis Police Department officers in Arkansas responded to Evolve Bank. They had received reports of an armed bank robbery.

Again, Najil followed his modus operandi. He pointed a firearm at bank employees while demanding money, and this time around, he stole his biggest money sum yet: $22,251.

What the now-sentenced man didn’t know at the time is that, hidden in the cash, were GPS monitoring devices. As a result, authorities pinpointed Najil’s location.

Flying Cash

Both West Memphis police and Arkansas State Police troopers located Najil and initiated a pursuit. He was driving a black Infiniti GS3.

As Najil arrived in Memphis, Tennessee, he crashed. He decided to continue the chase on foot, while holding onto the recently stolen cash. The release detailed that agents observed “money flying from his arms.”

Najil was apprehended shortly after. Police found loose bills and a .40 caliber pistol nearby, and around $22,134 was recovered. He would then admit to robbing the three aforementioned banks. On top of it, he also admitted to stealing the GS3 for the West Memphis robbery.

On November 3, 2025, after being transferred to Arkansas from Mississippi, Freddy Najil pleaded guilty to bank robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Following his prison sentence, he will serve three years’ supervised release.
