An attempted carjacking in Massachusetts quickly escalated into a rather dramatic multi-agency chase on May 25 in the afternoon. Suspects had fled police in a stolen vehicle, nearly crashed into a police officer, crashed, and then took the chase on foot into the woods until all three of them were caught.
The Marlborough Police Department said that everything began at approximately 1:28 pm. Officers had responded to a reported attempted vehicle theft in Ghiloni Park.
The victim was reported to be sleeping inside the parked car when a masked assailant unexpectedly opened the driver’s side door. When the suspect realized that there was someone inside, the suspect fled and jumped into a waiting vehicle that left the scene.
Not long after this, the police began their search by locating a car that matched the victim’s description. When officers attempted to stop the driver, he instead refused to comply and fled.
Suspects Leave Scene After Attempted Carjacking
When police first tried to stop the vehicle, the suspect drove incredibly close to a nearby officer who was working a different traffic detail. After this, the pursuit turned into a chaotic chase on Parameter Road.
Shortly after getting on the road, the suspect’s vehicle crashed and overturned. However, the occupants in the vehicle decided that the ordeal was far from over.
The three individuals jumped out of the car and ran into a nearby wooded area. This prompted a large-scale search that ended up having to use various resources to finally locate them.
Aerial Support Needed To Find Suspects
While police were searching for the suspects in the woods, it was discovered that the vehicle that they had been using as the getaway car had also been stolen. In fact, it had been stolen that same day in Wayland.
An extensive search had to be coordinated, with patrol officers, K-9 dogs, and helicopter support. Eventually, all three suspects were located and taken into custody.
Of the three suspects, two were juveniles, and one was an adult. Neither of the three suspects has had their names or ages publicly released.
Extensive Charges for Massachusetts Carjackers
The one adult in the incident faces various charges, including attempted carjacking, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, breaking into a motor vehicle for a felony, conspiracy, assault with a dangerous weapon, and other vehicle violations. The juveniles were not spared from charges.
However, due to their age, additional details about their charges were not immediately released. Throughout the chase, assistance came from the Southborough and Wayland Police Departments, while both the Hudson and Sudbury Police Departments helped with backup coverage.
Officials praised the coordinated effort, even saying, “The successful apprehension of all three suspects was the result of outstanding teamwork, coordination, and support from our regional law enforcement partners. Great job by all involved!!”
Local authorities did not release the driver’s name or additional identifying information. When agencies provide limited details, we supplement reporting with local news coverage, public records, and direct outreach whenever possible. In this case, no additional information was available at the time of publication.
