A dramatic dashcam video has captured the moment a loose tire bounced across the median of Interstate 76 in Philadelphia before crashing into a Nissan Rogue. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday near Girard Avenue, leaving the SUV with extensive front-end damage.
The footage, recorded by a Tesla traveling westbound on the Schuylkill Expressway, shows the tire rolling at high speed before striking an overpass structure, launching into the air, and crossing the concrete median. Moments later, it slams directly into the Nissan traveling in the opposite direction.
The impact caused severe damage to the Rogue’s front end, crushing the hood, destroying the front bumper, and shattering the windshield. Despite the force of the collision, authorities had not confirmed any injuries as of Wednesday evening.
According to Philadelphia’s 6abc Action News, the Tesla driver said he heard the crash behind him but did not realize what had happened until reviewing the vehicle’s onboard camera footage later.
