“Total Loss, Sorry Bro”: C8 Corvette Parks Dangerously Close To Volvo, and It Started a Hilarious Debate on TikTok

Someone Tell This C8 Corvette Driver That's Not What Bumpers Are For

A video shared on TikTok shows a red C8 Corvette with black accents across the hood and roof, sitting nose-to-tail with a parked Volvo. Calling it a crash almost feels too dramatic, but the Corvette definitely ended up a little closer to the Volvo than it was supposed to be.

The incident itself is a complete nothingburger, yet it is deliciously hilarious. There is barely any damage visible here, but because the car involved is a Corvette, the 22-second clip has racked up more than 276,000 views, over 4,700 comments, more than 4,400 shares, and nearly 4,800 saves.

Like every enthusiast community, Corvette owners have to deal with the baggage that comes with a small but very vocal fringe. One of our editors is a longtime Corvette enthusiast and will be the first to tell you it is one of the best communities in the automotive world. He will also be the first to admit that some owners can be absolutely insufferable.

You probably know the type. Every Corvette is somehow a “one of one.” The car is treated less like something to drive and more like a future family heirloom. It is not uncommon to see photos of Corvettes taking up extra parking spaces or sitting by themselves in the far corner of a lot because their owners are convinced everyone is out to damage them.

To be fair, there is some truth behind that mindset. According to iSeeCars, Corvettes are among the least-driven vehicles on American roads, lending at least a little credibility to the stereotype that many owners would rather preserve the car than rack up miles. Even within the Corvette community, though, plenty of owners roll their eyes at the folks who act as if every C8 belongs in a climate-controlled garage instead of being out on the road.

That is what makes this video so funny. A car famous for attracting owners who park like they are guarding the Declaration of Independence somehow ended up gently kissing the back of a parked Volvo.

C8 Corvette Was Found Resting Against a Parked Volvo

The video opens with the Volvo owner expressing his disbelief after finding the Corvette resting against the back of his car. From the looks of it, the Volvo was sitting normally in its space while the Corvette’s nose had come to rest against it.

The contact appears minor, and there is no indication anyone was hurt. In a follow-up video, the creator said the contact did leave a scratch in the Corvette’s red paint, though he did not say whether the Volvo suffered any noticeable damage.

The person recording even joked out loud, “Dude forgot how to drive.” Honestly, the scene is so low-speed and so strange that it is hard not to laugh at it, especially given the car involved.

It does not seem as though the Volvo owner was furious so much as stunned that something like this happened at all. Still, he made sure to document the whole thing, which is probably smart any time two vehicles make contact in a parking lot.

Commenters Immediately Turned It Into the World’s Smallest Injury Lawsuit

The internet collectively decided this tiny parking lot mishap was worthy of the world’s biggest personal injury lawsuit. Rather than debating who was at fault, hundreds of commenters pretended they had all been passengers in the Volvo.

One commenter joked, “hey man, me and the rest of the comment section were all there. our necks hurt too.” The creator happily played along, replying that the C8 driver should pay everyone in the comments $1,000.

Naturally, the joke snowballed. One commenter replied, “$1k for my neck? not in this economy,” while another insisted the medical bills were “at least 5k each not including emotional distress.” Others joked they would all be suing the Corvette driver’s insurance.

Earlier in the thread, another popular exchange started when someone commented, “Your car looks totaled 😔.” The creator responded that he had suffered “horrible neck injuries, three broken ribs and a lot of emotional distress.”

Not everyone was focused on the fake lawsuits. Plenty of commenters also couldn’t believe that a modern C8, complete with parking sensors and cameras, still managed to gently bump into a parked car.

It does not appear that the original poster called authorities, and it remains unclear whether the drivers exchanged insurance information. Given how minor the contact appears, the entire ordeal may ultimately be remembered less for the damage and more for the thousands of people who collectively decided they had all suffered whiplash from watching it.
