Not tipping a delivery agent could greatly upset them, sometimes leading to verbal altercations. After all, the quantity of the tip and whether or not to tip someone at all for their services is subjective.

However, one such argument escalated to a whole new level after a Domino’s deliveryman did not receive a tip, allegedly leading him to strike the customer with his car.

The deliveryman reportedly initiated the argument about the non-payment of the tip before striking the customer, an act that could have taken the customer’s life.

Eventually, the police arrested the deliveryman, but the incident is a stark reminder to avoid confrontation for petty things, as it does not take long for situations to take a violent turn.

The Customer Jumps Onto the Hood of the Car

According to a report by People, 36-year-old Zachary Nicholus Walton was arrested for driving into a customer and booked into Callaway County Jail without bond.

Jail records show he was charged with “Armed Criminal Action, Assault First-Degree or Attempt and Leaving Scene of Accident – Physical Injury.”

The incident occurred on April 29 at around 7:21 p.m. when the Fulton Police Department officers responded to a call from a private residence regarding an “accident with injuries.”

A witness alleged that the delivery driver, identified as Walton, “became upset” and “struck” the victim with his vehicle.

As per the statement of probable cause accessed by People, footage obtained from the scene of the incident showed Walton “initiating the confrontation.” Notably, the victim’s identity has been kept confidential.

Walton was heard saying to the victim and the witness that they were “f—ing rude.” Getting inside his vehicle before crashing into the victim, he said, “What are you going to do, bitch? Come get me.”

The statement added that Walton allegedly then reversed his vehicle as the victim walked down the driveway towards the vehicle. When Walton was on the roadway, he then shifted into drive and drove forward, striking the victim, before speeding away.

The victim alleged that Walton argued after he was not handed a tip, before “intentionally” driving his vehicle forward. The victim jumped onto the hood at the time of impact to avoid severe injury.

Officers confirmed the victim had visible injuries to his hands. They said that the impact “caused him pain and he believes he has scrapes on his shin.”

Walton Owns Up to the Police

The police officers found Walton at Domino’s, where he allegedly admitted to driving into the victim, not with the intention of hitting him, but with the intention of scaring him. He also owned up to leaving the scene after striking the victim. The statement of probable cause adds:

“The defendant poses a danger to the victim and the community as he intentionally used a motor vehicle to strike the victim during a verbal altercation and then fled the scene without contacting law enforcement.

“His actions demonstrate a disregard for the law and safety of others, indicating he may not comply with a summons.”

The statement of probable cause mentions that Walton has served time in the past for domestic assault and false imprisonment.

Notably, Domino’s has not said anything about the incident yet. Images and videos of the incident have not been made available at this stage of the investigation.
