Some weekends practically beg you to fill up the tank, roll down the windows, and head somewhere new. With peak foliage just around the corner, New Lebanon, N.Y., is about to become one of those drives worth taking.
If you’re anywhere near the crossroads of New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, or Connecticut, New Lebanon, N.Y., should be on your weekend road-trip list. Just 24 miles from Albany, 30 miles from Pittsfield and Hudson, and under an hour from Hartford or Manchester, Vt., it’s an easy drive framed by fall foliage, winding backroads, and crisp autumn air.
With the leaves starting to turn, there may not be a better excuse to get behind the wheel and soak up the season.
A Destination at the Heart of the Hudson Valley and Berkshires
Woodlife Farm Market, nestled where the Hudson Valley meets the Berkshires, will host its free annual fall event Oct. 3–4. More than just a local market, Woodlife has evolved into a community hub that seamlessly blends farm-to-table flavors, outdoor culture, and automotive spectacle. “Last year’s turnout exceeded expectations, and with our growth this year, we anticipate welcoming even more families and outdoor enthusiasts,” said Emily Gamble, General Manager of Woodlife Farm Market.
The event kicks off Friday evening with a fire performance by Sam Tobey and a menu of fresh local fare, seasonal craft cocktails, and a festive atmosphere perfect for easing into the weekend.
Gear and Autos on Display
Saturday, Oct. 4, belongs to The Land Report’s Annual Gear Review, a showcase that draws both adventurers and auto enthusiasts. Three standout headliners promise to grab attention:
- Bell 505 Helicopter – A sleek, versatile aircraft built for visibility and performance.
- Land Rover Defender OCTA – At 636 horsepower, it’s the most powerful Defender ever built.
- Mercedes-AMG G63 – A legend in the SUV world, balancing rugged, military-inspired roots with luxury appeal.
In addition to these headliners, visitors can expect motorcycles, off-road vehicles, and cutting-edge gear from The Land Report’s 2025 guide. For auto fans, it’s a chance to get up close to dream machines while enjoying the fall festival vibe.
Music, Food, and Fall Vibes
Live performances run throughout the day, including Colby Robb at 1 p.m. and Whiskey City from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Meanwhile, grill master James Morgan will be firing up the pit from noon to 5 p.m., serving signature barbecue alongside Woodlife’s own seasonal menu.
The mix of live music, roaring engines, and savory smoke makes the event as much about atmosphere as it is about gear and cars. Add in a backdrop of rolling hills with leaves shifting from green to gold, and you’ve got one of the season’s most scenic day trips.
Why It’s Worth the Drive
Part of what makes Woodlife Farm Market’s fall festival so appealing is its location. Within 60 miles, you can pair your visit with stops in:
- Albany, NY – New York’s capital – has a vibrant food and historical scene.
- Pittsfield, MA – A gateway to the Berkshires, perfect for leaf-peeping detours.
- Hudson, NY – Known for antiques, galleries, and charming river views.
- Manchester, VT – A mountain town ideal for shopping, hiking, and fall photos.
- Hartford, CT – Connecticut’s capital is rich in cultural attractions.
Whether you’re taking the scenic Taconic Parkway, winding Route 20, or carving through the Berkshires, the journey is half the fun. The weather is still pleasant, the roads are open, and the landscapes are at their most picturesque.
Plan Your Visit
The event is free and open to all. Woodlife Farm Market also offers year-round farm goods, orchards, trails, and access to Pittsfield State Park, making it a worthy stop even outside festival weekend.
