Bargain hunters, get ready for a four-day treasure hunt that spans across several states! The annual 127 Yard Sale opened Thursday, Aug. 6, and continues through Sunday, Aug. 9.
Organizers bill it as the World’s Longest Yard Sale, with a route covering 690 miles. It connects rural communities from southern Michigan to northeast Alabama.
Sales appear in front yards, fields, barns, church parking lots, community parks and town centers. Shoppers can search for antiques, furniture, tools, clothing, crafts, produce and other secondhand finds.
The 2026 event marks the sale’s 40th consecutive year. It began in 1987 as an effort to draw travelers away from Interstates 40 and 75 and into smaller Tennessee communities.
The route follows Highway 127, then takes a turn

The official 127 Yard Sale Facebook video traces the route from Addison, Michigan, through Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, then across Georgia to Gadsden, Alabama. Most of the sale follows U.S. Highway 127, hence the name. When the highway ends in Chattanooga, the event continues along Lookout Mountain Parkway through Georgia and Alabama.
Some sellers operate independently, while larger groups gather at places organizers call Major Vendor Stops. Each of those locations has at least 25 vendors. At the southern end, there are four major Alabama stops: Akins Shady Pines in Fort Payne, Collinsville Crossroads, a site at 2266 Tabor Road and Noccalula Falls Park in Gadsden.
How to plan a 127 Yard Sale trip
Individual vendors choose their own schedules. The official event FAQ says most open between 8 and 9 a.m. and remain open until about 5 p.m., although some stay later.
Visitors should bring cash in several denominations because card payments are not available everywhere. Organizers also recommend planning for only 50 to 75 miles per day because shopping stops and traffic slow progress.

Travelers following the Georgia and Alabama portions should also review the event’s turn-by-turn directions, as the route changes roads several times south of Chattanooga. The sale continues through Aug. 9. The next event is scheduled for Aug. 5 through Aug. 8, 2027.
