The Roush Ram 1500 Is Made For Off-Roading And Showing Off

Roush Performance has expanded its lineup of factory-backed truck collaborations once again, this time turning its attention to the 2027 Ram 1500. Known for its long-running work with Ford pickups and, more recently, the Nissan Frontier, the company has introduced the Ram 1500 Direct Connection by Roush as a dealer-available performance package aimed at enthusiasts who want added capability without sacrificing factory support.

Developed in partnership with Ram, the new package combines suspension upgrades, rugged styling enhancements, and a performance exhaust system while retaining the truck’s factory towing equipment and driver-assistance technologies. The result is a V-8-powered alternative for buyers who still prefer the sound and character of the 5.7-liter HEMI engine.

Unlike many aftermarket builds, the Direct Connection by Roush package is installed through authorized Ram dealerships and includes a factory-backed warranty. That approach gives buyers the confidence of OEM-level support while delivering a significantly more aggressive truck both on and off the pavement.

Positioned between a standard Ram 1500 and the high-performance RHO, the new Roush model focuses on enhancing off-road performance and visual appeal rather than chasing outright horsepower. It combines proven factory hardware with Roush engineering to create a distinctive full-size pickup.

Built On A Well-Equipped Ram Foundation

Every Ram 1500 Direct Connection by Roush starts as a 2027 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab 4×4 equipped with the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8, a 3.92 rear axle, and the Level II Equipment Group. Ram’s Direct Connection package adds several premium features before Roush begins its transformation.

Factory equipment includes the Sport Performance hood, Night Edition package, skid plates, Mopar leather seats, TRX-style running boards, a surround-view camera system, an electronic locking rear differential, trailer brake controller, and rear wheel well liners. Buyers can also add Trailer Tow Package II for additional towing capability.

Suspension And Tire Upgrades Target Off-Road Performance

The centerpiece of the Roush package is its Performance 2.0 Coil-Over Suspension System featuring custom-tuned twin-tube hydraulic dampers. The setup increases ground clearance while aiming to improve off-road capability without compromising everyday driving comfort.

Roush also replaces the factory 20-inch wheels with exclusive 18-inch performance wheels wrapped in 33-inch General Grabber A/TX all-terrain tires. Combined with the electronic locking rear differential and factory skid plates, the upgraded suspension gives the truck a more capable stance for tackling rough terrain while maintaining factory towing capacity and advanced driver-assistance systems.

Aggressive Styling Matches The Truck’s Capabilities

The exterior receives an extensive redesign that clearly separates it from a standard Ram 1500. Roush adds redesigned hood vents, wide fender flares with integrated clearance lights, a unique grille featuring red RAM lettering and auxiliary lighting, along with a color-matched front bumper accented by bright red tow hooks.

Additional graphics appear on the hood, lower doors, and tailgate, while American flag decals decorate the bedsides. Buyers can choose from Bright White, Diamond Black Crystal Pearlcoat, Forged Blue Metallic, Granite Crystal Metallic, and Molten Red Pearlcoat finishes.

Inside, the upgrades are relatively subtle. Direct Connection by Roush floor mats and exclusive badging on the cabin trim provide a custom touch while preserving the familiar layout and comfort of the Ram 1500 interior.

Active Exhaust Keeps The HEMI Front And Center

One of the highlights of the package is the Roush Performance active cat-back exhaust system. Featuring driver-selectable modes, the system allows owners to adjust how much exhaust bypasses the mufflers, giving the HEMI V-8 everything from a restrained highway tone to a much louder performance soundtrack.

The exhaust exits through black Roush-branded tips, adding another visual cue that this truck is anything but standard. For enthusiasts who still appreciate naturally aspirated V-8 sound, the upgraded exhaust is expected to be one of the package’s biggest selling points.

Pricing And Availability

The Roush portion of the package carries a price of $15,995. When combined with the required Ram 1500 Big Horn configuration and factory options, the total price lands at approximately $80,300, placing it slightly above the 2027 Ram 1500 RHO before additional options are added.

All Roush-installed components are backed by a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty, and the truck is available through participating Ram dealerships. According to Jack Roush Jr., vice president of brand strategy at Roush Performance, the goal was to combine Ram’s capability with Roush’s experience building specialty performance trucks to deliver a distinctive package for light-duty pickup buyers seeking both off-road confidence and unmistakable road presence.
