A Santa Ana homeowner had an SUV come through the driveway late Sunday night. The white vehicle hit two parked cars before crashing into the front of the house and ending up partly on top of one of them.
The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 700 block of South Shawnee Drive near West McFadden Avenue, according to KTLA. A spokesperson for the Santa Ana Police Department said the SUV struck the two vehicles in the driveway before hitting the home.
ABC7 reported that the SUV went airborne before the crash. Footage from the scene shows how the vehicle ended up with its passenger side resting on one of the parked cars after the impact.
From the available footage and photos, the SUV appears to be a newer Honda Passport. Police have not publicly confirmed the make and model of the vehicle, so the identification is based on what can be seen in the images.
The SUV Didn’t Only Hit the Cars
The vehicle continued forward and crashed into the front of the house, leaving the vehicle partly elevated on one of the cars.
Footage from the scene shows the SUV sitting at an awkward angle with its passenger side above the parked vehicle. The position provided for an unusual scene, particularly given the crash occurred in what was supposed to be a quiet residential driveway.
Despite the damage, nobody inside the house was hurt. Police said the driver, described only as an adult woman, also walked away without injuries.
Police Don’t Believe Drugs Were Involved
Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision. No arrests were made following the crash, and the driver reportedly did not suffer any major injuries.
The cause of the crash is still unknown. KTLA and ABC7 did not report what caused the SUV to end up where it did, and police have not announced an explanation as to how the vehicle went airborne.
Much remains to be seen, and many will be waiting to find out what actually happened. The investigation is still ongoing, and hopefully we will learn more in the coming days.
The Internet Had a Few Things To Say
The unusual position of the SUV caught people’s attention online. One commenter summed up the crash with, “They can’t park there though,” while another called it a close call and suggested drivers should pay more attention.
Another comment was considerably shorter, saying, “Yup, sounds like SA lol.” Most comments were focused on the absurdity of the crash and how weird it looks to see a car sitting on top of another.
