Someone Just Paid $146,000 For A Used Tesla Model X Plaid

Used EVs aren’t exactly known for appreciating, which makes the result of this Cars & Bids auction all the more special. A 2026 Tesla Model X Plaid with roughly 7,000 miles on its odometer has just sold for $146,000.

The seller purchased the SUV new in March 2026, and its window sticker reportedly shows an original price of $118,880. Just months and several thousand miles later, another buyer was willing to bid $27,120 above that figure.

There are some clues as to why this particular Model X attracted 57 bids. It’s a Frost Blue Metallic Plaid from the final model year, and the seller says he took delivery only four days before Tesla ended Model S and Model X production on March 31.

Whether that combination eventually makes late-production Model X Plaids genuinely collectible is impossible to know from a single auction, but what we can say for sure is that somebody wanted this one badly enough to spend $146,000 on it.

This Wasn’t An Ordinary Model X

Tesla introduced several updates to the Model X for 2026, including revisions to the suspension, additional sound insulation, active noise cancellation, and improved third-row space. The Plaid also kept the performance that has made it one of the strangest family SUVs ever sold.

Its three electric motors produce around 1,020 horsepower and send power to all four wheels. Tesla rated the 2026 Model X Plaid at 335 miles of EPA range, while its acceleration could embarrass plenty of dedicated sports cars.

This example was configured with six seats, 20-inch Perihelix wheels, air suspension, carbon-fiber interior trim, and the Model X’s signature Falcon Wing rear doors. The seller also added glossy carbon-fiber exterior pieces from RPM Tesla, Plaid-style rear badging, and red Tesla wheel-center caps.

It Was Built Near The End Of Production

The timing of this Model X may have helped make it attractive to bidders. According to the seller, he took delivery on March 27, 2026, shortly before Model X production ended, while Frost Blue Metallic had only arrived for the final model year.

The SUV was also presented in very clean condition. Its front bumper, hood, fenders, lip, and A-pillars received XPEL paint protection film, while the front windows were fitted with ceramic tint.

There is one notable catch for the new owner. Although the Model X was originally purchased with Tesla’s LUX Package, the seller says Full Self-Driving, Premium Connectivity, and Lifetime Free Supercharging don’t transfer with the vehicle.

One Auction Doesn’t Make A Market

The $146,000 sale price is certainly eye-catching, especially considering the SUV already has around 7,000 miles on the odometer. It also doesn’t necessarily mean used Model X Plaids are suddenly appreciating across the board.

A single auction can produce an unusual result when two or more determined bidders want the same car. More sales of similarly specified late-production examples will be needed before there’s evidence of a collector premium.

Still, $27,120 above the original sticker price is quite a result for a used Tesla. Whatever happens to Model X values from here, this Frost Blue Plaid found at least one buyer willing to pay heavily for a piece of Tesla’s recently ended flagship era.
