Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug is facing new legal trouble after being pulled over in Dallas, Texas, and the timing couldn’t be stranger. He was booked on charges of driving while intoxicated, marijuana possession, and unlawful possession of a firearm, exactly one year to the day after his last arrest on similar charges.
According to FOX 26 Houston, Allen police arrested the rapper, whose legal name is Xavier Landum, on Friday, August 21, and booked him into the Collin County Jail. Landum was charged with DWI and marijuana possession, both Class B misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of a firearm, a Class A misdemeanor.
Landum was scheduled to headline the Country Rising Festival that same night, but organizers announced he’d be pulling out due to what they called a “personal emergency.” He was also set to headline the Iowa State Fair Grandstand the very next day.
Specifics about what led to the traffic stop or arrest haven’t been released, but the date alone has given this story its own life online.

This Isn’t His First Run-in With the Law
This marks the third time in less than two years that Landum has faced arrest on similar charges. In February 2025, Arlington police pulled the rapper over for an expired registration and arrested him on a possession charge that was later dismissed.
Then, on August 21, 2025, exactly one year before this latest arrest, Dallas police stopped his pickup truck for not having a front license plate. He told officers he had a firearm in the vehicle, and police also found a small amount of marijuana. It just so happened to be the same day his album, “I Hope You’re Happy,” hit the music space. He was released on a $5,000 bond.
His Career Has Been an Upward Swing
The timing is especially rough given where Landum’s career currently sits. In 2025, Landum released his album “I Hope You’re Happy,” which blended his southern rap style with country music, pairing him with artists like Shaboozey, Jelly Roll, Luke Combs, Darius Rucker, Bailey Zimmerman, and Thomas Rhett.
His track with Zimmerman, “All the Way,” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart in 2025, and the album itself debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard charts.
The Comments Have Noticed the Pattern Too
Commenters wasted no time pointing out the exact same date as last year’s arrest. One person joked that he needs to write a song called “August 21st” at this point, since it’s now happened twice on the same day.
Others focused less on the coincidence and more on the DWI charge specifically. One commenter argued that with the kind of money he’s making, there’s no excuse not to have a designated driver, calling it a rookie mistake, though they noted he’s already out on bond. Another commentor pushed back on that framing entirely, saying he’s still one of the biggest names in hip-hop even after he was arrested.
Even with his arrest, Landum still showed up at the Iowa State Fair the next day, performing as scheduled just one day after being booked into Collin County Jail.
