Porsche Is Building Three Custom Cars Inspired by Toy Story 5 Characters, and We Need to See Them Now

Porsche and Pixar are back at it again, and this time they brought the whole gang. The German automaker has announced it will unveil three completely custom, one-of-a-kind vehicles built to celebrate the release of Toy Story 5, each one channeling a beloved character from the franchise. Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear are all getting the Porsche treatment, and honestly, we did not know we needed this until right now.

The cars are being developed through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program, which is essentially the automaker’s bespoke personalization division where basically anything goes if you have the vision and the budget for it. It is the kind of program that turns a sports car into a canvas, and Pixar characters, as it turns out, make for very compelling subject matter. These will not be off-the-shelf Porsches with a slapped-on paint job. They are full, character-inspired builds from the ground up.

The trio is set to make their red carpet debut at the Toy Story 5 premiere in Los Angeles on June 19, 2026. After that, all three cars will be put up for sale, with proceeds going to nonprofits focused on children and underserved communities. So beyond being cool, this is actually a genuinely good cause, which makes rooting for this project even easier.

For now, details are scarce. Porsche has released exactly one teaser image, which shows three covered cars sitting in what looks like a very dramatic reveal setup. Two of the silhouettes suggest standard 911 bodies, but the third hints at something more aggressive, complete with a prominent rear wing and a front end that looks like it means business.

What That Teaser Image Might Actually Be Telling Us

Teaser images are basically a sport unto themselves at this point, and Porsche knows exactly how to play the game. The lone image released shows three draped vehicles, and while the covers hide most of the details, the shape of that third car is hard to ignore.

The two more conventional-looking 911 silhouettes could correspond to Woody and Jessie, both of whom have a warm, classic aesthetic that fits naturally with the 911’s iconic lines. But that third car, with its aggressive stance and massive rear wing, screams Buzz Lightyear. If we had to guess, something in the neighborhood of a 911 GT3 Manthey spec would not be a stretch, fitted with a color palette that nods to the Space Ranger’s signature purple and white suit.

That said, this is all speculation until the covers literally come off at the premiere. Porsche is not giving away the surprise early, and frankly, the mystery is half the fun.

This Is Not the First Time Porsche and Pixar Have Joined Forces

If this collaboration feels oddly natural, there is a reason for that. Porsche and Pixar have history together that goes back further than most people realize. The original link came from the movie Cars, where one of the main characters, Sally Carrera, was herself a Porsche 911. That is not a throwaway detail. The entire character was built around the brand.

In 2022, Porsche leaned fully into that connection by building a real, one-off Sally Carrera inspired car, painted in a custom Sally Blue Metallic finish and even featuring her signature tattoo detail on the rear bumper. It was a genuinely impressive execution and showed that Porsche is willing to take these collaborations seriously rather than just slap a logo on something and call it a day.

Now with Toy Story 5 on the horizon, the partnership has expanded from one car to three, from one franchise tie-in to a full character lineup. The ambition here is clearly bigger this time around.

What We Can Actually Learn From This Collaboration

There is something worth noting about how both Porsche and Pixar approach this kind of project. Bob Pauley, the production designer for Toy Story, spoke about the process in a way that goes beyond marketing speak. He described the goal as interpreting characters through materials, color, and form without being overly literal about it. In other words, these cars are not going to look like toys. They are going to feel like the characters.

That distinction matters. The best brand collaborations work when both sides bring their actual craft to the table. Pixar’s entire identity is built on the idea that emotional storytelling can live inside design, whether that is a lamp jumping on a ball or a cowboy wrestling with his purpose in life. Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program operates on a similar principle, that a car can express something deeper than just transportation.

When those two philosophies meet, the result is usually worth paying attention to. And given what the 2022 Sally Carrera collaboration produced, there is every reason to believe these three Toy Story builds will be something genuinely special when they roll out onto that red carpet in June.

As one comment aptly put: “TOY STORY PORSCHE BEFORE GTA 6.”
