A Birmingham reporter managed to make a rollover crash the punchline of her newscast while also asking drivers to stop drinking and driving. Using the imagery of the flipped car and a narrative that seems to have been told to her by those at the scene, she approaches a new way to report.
The reporter, China Davis, appears to be sitting on the side of the road with a plastic bottle filled with a yellow liquid held up to her mouth like a microphone. She’s dressed entirely in pink, from her pajamas to her bonnet and robe.
She explains that the Mercedes-Benz behind her had been flipped by a gentleman who allegedly had a diabetic episode. It was also reported that the driver might have been driving under the influence as well as hit a pedestrian during the accident.
The scene behind her shows the white Mecedez flipped over with what appears to be pieces of headlight littered on the ground. An officer and a man can also be seen, though it is unclear if this man had anything to do with the incident.
So, What Happened?

According to China’s report, the driver of the vehicle had only purchased it the day before. While it isn’t explicitly stated where in Birmingham the accident took place, it does appear to be a residential road, prompting questions concerning how it was able to flip in the first place.
Behind Davis, the officer in view appears to actually wave at the cameraman, as though he is aware of her reporting in the area. Despite claiming that someone was hit by the flipped vehicle on the scene, it doesn’t appear as though an ambulance was on site at the time the video was recorded.
She is then able to grab a few seconds of close-up footage of the overturned car with its driver’s side airbags popped.
Who Is China Davis?
Despite her profile reading that she is a reporter, China Davis is not associated with any single outlet. In fact, she is an independent reporter who got her fame throughout Birmingham for reporting on local incidents in her very unique way.
This video isn’t the first time she’s reported on an accident in this manner, and she wears the pajamas, bonnet, and robe almost as a uniform. Most, if not all, of her reports concern vehicular incidents in her area, where she is likely notified by residents to be present and report on.
The video currently has over one million likes and has been seen over five million times as of this publication. It’s on track to earn even more engagement, especially considering the fact that commenters are other TikTok content creators who also report on local news.
Reactions to Car Flipped Over in Birmingham
Various viewers shared their opinions on the video in its comments, with many praising Davis’ style of reporting. In fact, Aaron Parnas, another popular TikTok reporter, wrote, “Real journalism right here.”
Other commenters poked fun at the whole situation, with one person writing, “On the ground journalism.” Similarly, another comment read, “Raw footage, raw reporting without editing, 100% 😂😂😂.”
During the report, Davis makes a note to viewers about drinking and driving, and that she herself took an Uber earlier after being too intoxicated to drive. One of the top comments also agreed with this, reading, “As a 911 dispatcher, I cannot tell you how much I endorse this message 😭 don’t drink and drive PLEASE people.”
Local authorities did not release the driver’s name, exact location, or additional identifying information. When agencies provide limited details, we supplement reporting with local news coverage, public records, and direct outreach whenever possible. In this case, no additional information was available at the time of publication.
