Nissan Is Bringing Two Modified Z Cars And A 300-HP Sentra Spec-V Revival Concept To SEMA

Nissan has a long history of building cars that enthusiasts love to modify, and it hasn’t forgotten those roots. For the 2026 SEMA Show, the Japanese automaker is preparing three special builds celebrating its performance heritage.

The lineup includes a 300-horsepower Sentra Spec-V concept, a track-focused Nissan Z, and a classic Datsun Z restomod with modern twin-turbo power. Each takes a different approach to performance, from sport-compact tuning to serious motorsports.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is the Sentra, which brings back a nameplate closely associated with Nissan’s enthusiast-focused compact sedans. It’s a welcome reminder of a time when affordable performance cars were a major part of the brand’s identity.

All three vehicles will appear at Nissan’s booth during the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, running November 3–6. However, Nissan emphasizes that these are one-off concepts, not confirmed future production models.

The Sentra Spec-V Returns With 300 HP

Created to celebrate 35 years since the Sentra SE-R arrived in North America, the new Spec-V concept takes the current sedan much further than your average appearance package.

Its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder produces 300 horsepower, paired with an upgraded six-speed manual transmission sourced from the Juke NISMO RS. That’s an appealing combination, seeing as manual transmission performance sedans are almost extinct at this point.

Nissan also fitted GT-R-sourced Brembo brakes, custom NISMO coilovers, upgraded anti-roll bars, and 19-inch NISMO wheels. The cabin features GT-R-derived Recaro front seats, while a custom body kit and GT-R NISMO rear wing give the sedan a much more aggressive appearance.

A Nissan Z Built For The Racetrack

The second concept, Project NAT2, was developed by the Nissan Acceleration Team, a volunteer group of Nissan employees passionate about motorsports. Unlike the Sentra, this Z was designed specifically for competition.

Built to SCCA Touring 2 specifications, it features engine, suspension, and braking upgrades using NISMO and aftermarket components. Its interior has also been stripped and fitted with a roll cage and other racing safety equipment.

The result is a purpose-built track machine demonstrating what Nissan’s engineers can create when given the opportunity to pursue their racing interests.

A Classic Datsun With Modern Z Power

Rounding out the trio is a Datsun S30 restomod created in collaboration with Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg. It combines the original Z’s iconic styling with the twin-turbocharged V6 from today’s Nissan Z.

The engine receives additional NISMO upgrades, while lightweight carbon-fiber body panels help modernize the classic sports car. Custom suspension and braking components complete the transformation.

Nissan will also display the T-top Z Kaze concept and plans to reveal additional truck and SUV builds separately. While none of these concepts is destined for production in its current form, Nissan says ideas explored at SEMA can influence future vehicles and accessories.
