Man Finally Drives His $64K Lamborghini After Nearly 10 Years — and Breaks Down in Tears

A Lamborghini that spent nearly a decade being rebuilt has finally returned to the road, leaving its owner in tears. YouTuber Freddy Hernandez, better known as Tavarish, had waited years to drive his fire-damaged supercar again, but even the final hours of the project brought fresh problems.

Hernandez bought the 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder for $64,000 nearly 10 years ago. The low purchase price came with plenty of trouble, and getting the car back into shape would require years of repairs and costly replacement parts.

At one point, the Gallardo had a homemade twin-turbo system, a racing clutch, and custom engine controls. Hernandez later decided to bring the car closer to its factory setup, replacing much of that equipment. Even Lamborghini could not help him get it running, according to Hernandez.

With the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas approaching, he faced one final challenge. The car needed to leave his Florida shop for the event, and a transport driver was already on the way. Before handing over the keys, Hernandez wanted to find out whether his rebuilt Lamborghini could actually drive.

One Last Scare

Getting the Gallardo ready took more than installing its remaining body panels. Hernandez and his team repaired wiring, cleaned soot left by the old fire, and put much of the interior back together. A broken glove box handle even led him to adapt a $30 Audi part instead of buying a used Lamborghini replacement for roughly $1,000.

The bigger concern came when Hernandez smelled raw fuel near the engine. After checking the system, he found torn O-rings in fittings connected to the aftermarket fuel filters. He tried to improve the fit of the existing seals before reassembling everything.

A pressure test showed no obvious leaks, and Hernandez reported no fresh fuel smell afterward. Still, the improvised repair was not the same as replacing the damaged seals with new ones.

Next came trouble with the convertible roof. Hernandez adjusted its mechanism until the top finally opened and closed as intended. That success lasted just long enough for another problem to appear.

Everything Goes Dark

When Hernandez turned the key to begin the long-awaited test drive, the Lamborghini had no electrical power. Nothing came on, so he searched beneath the dashboard as the shipping deadline drew closer.

After checking the wiring and several fuses, he found a blown 50-amp fuse. Replacing it brought the car back to life, giving his team another chance to finish the job.

Working late into the night, they polished the paint, installed the remaining trim, and finished assembling the interior. By then, the transport truck was already outside the shop. Despite the rush, Hernandez refused to skip the test drive he had waited so long to take.

A Decade Later

With a fire extinguisher beside him, Hernandez finally pulled the Gallardo onto the road in the darkness. The transmission shifted into gear, the brakes responded, and the naturally aspirated V10 sounded just as he had hoped.

“This is what I’ve been waiting for the last 10 years,” he said as he drove.

The moment carried more weight than an ordinary test drive. Hernandez had owned the Lamborghini for 3,175 days and made 78 videos about it. He explained that the car helped launch his YouTube career and taught him how to work through difficult problems.

As the drive continued, his excitement turned to tears. “I have goosebumps and tears in my eyes,” he told viewers.

He also found that the car had plenty of power despite his earlier concerns. By the time he headed back to the shop, the gauges showed normal readings, and he had noticed no strange smells or warning lights.

The Gallardo still needed a few small interior pieces, but Hernandez was happy with how it drove. He planned to send it to The Rag Company’s booth at the November 3–6 SEMA Show .

When he finally returned, it was nearly 4 a.m. The transport driver was sleeping in his truck outside, while Hernandez and his exhausted crew stood beside the Lamborghini they had spent the night finishing.
