An emergency room doctor named Stephen Biebelhausen set a record for a mile-long course at four minutes and seventeen seconds, according to ABC 7 Eyewitness News. This event took place in Cleveland, Ohio on August 8, 2026.
That may not sound like an especially fast race time, but this was the Stroller Mile portion of the Guardian Mile race. So, he also needed the participation of his one-year-old daughter, Blake, pushing her in her stroller.
The race began in Cleveland’s Market Square Park. Runners then needed to cross the Cuyahoga River via the Hope Memorial Bridge to reach the finish line near the Cleveland Guardians’ Progressive Field.
Race records by the Guardian Mile/Stroller Mile show that the stroller portion of the race had 11 entrants. Colby Alexander, the son of the race founder, Rae Alexander, came in second place, being 15 seconds behind Biebelhausen.

The race time in Cleveland still needs verification before Biebelhausen and his daughter officially become the new winners of the Guinness World Record for the fastest stroller mile. The current record time stands at four minutes and 26.29 seconds.
This record, according to Guinness World Records, is held by a man named Silas Frantz and his baby son, Otto. They secured the title on June 24, 2025, completed at Arroyo Grande High School in California. Frantz had entered the race upon encouragement from his friends.
Story Behind the Story
Biebelhausen previously ran track at Division I Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, according to reporting by Cleveland.com. He suspected that he wasn’t currently in competitive enough shape to win the overall Guardian Mile race, but he figured that he could win the stroller division.
The father-daughter duo finished half of the race in just two minutes and 12 seconds. This served as the first time that a clock was visible to Biebelhausen around the stroller, and this benchmark made them (or the dad, at least) realize they could win this race. To accomplish the goal, they completed the second half in just two minutes and five seconds.
The two of them had previously enjoyed casual runs in nature. But, besides being a competitive race, this one added another new factor. This evening race began 45 minutes past baby Blake’s bedtime. She stayed cheerful throughout, though, buoyed by the crowd’s enthusiasm.
Running Faster With a Stroller
During practice runs, Biebelhausen wanted to surpass the four-minute and 44-second record for a stroller run during the Guardian Mile race. He accomplished that with times ranging from a few seconds above and a few seconds below that time, but that was without the stroller. To ensure that Blake would find this type of running fun, he took her out for a test whirl.
They broke their own practice times during the actual race with Biebelhausen getting most of the credit. He, however, gives the credit to Blake whom he called the cutest baby in the world.
