A traffic complaint originating on Interstate 10 gave West Baton Rouge Parish deputies a reason to start looking for a 2001 Honda Accord on the morning of October 1. By the time they found it parked at a nearby casino, the driver’s problems were about to extend considerably beyond whatever first caught someone’s attention on the highway.
Deputies responded to a business along Lobdell Highway at approximately 8:50 a.m. after receiving the complaint. They eventually located the Honda in the parking lot of a nearby casino along the same highway.
The driver was identified as 33-year-old Baton Rouge resident Dalvin Booker. According to the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies then learned Booker was already wanted by another law enforcement agency.
Baton Rouge Police wanted Booker for aggravated flight from an officer and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the sheriff’s office said. What deputies say they found during their own investigation would result in a considerably longer list of accusations.
A Lot Was Found

During the investigation, deputies say they located packaged fentanyl and methamphetamine. The sheriff’s office also reported finding drug paraphernalia and a stolen firearm.
The department did not disclose the quantities of fentanyl or methamphetamine recovered in its announcement. It did, however, accuse Booker of possessing both drugs with the intent to distribute them.
Booker was also charged with illegal possession of a stolen firearm, illegal carrying of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Those were added to charges for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being a fugitive.
Sheriff Says Booker Remains in Custody
Following his arrest, Booker was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center. The sheriff’s office stated that he remained in custody with no bond set at the time of his release.
Guessing Headlights attempted to locate additional information about Booker through the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office inmate search, but could not find a matching entry among the information available. The online inmate information also appeared not to have been updated since July 29, 2026, limiting what could be confirmed through that search.
The lack of a matching result therefore should not be interpreted as evidence that Booker was released or was not booked into the detention center. The sheriff’s office’s October 2 announcement specifically states that Booker was booked there and remained in custody without bond at the time the department published its information.
