A Honda owner opened up about their frustrations on Reddit after bringing their 2025 Civic Sport to the dealership for warranty work and left with a long list of additional maintenance recommendations. The photos they posted show suggested services of around $1,500, even though the car had only 26,000 miles on it.
The owner shared photos of the dealership’s report on Reddit on October 14. They said most of the extra work was stuff they could do themselves or have done somewhere else for much less money.
They weren’t interested in paying for any of it. “Denied everything except warranty work, ofc,” the owner wrote and opened up a conversation about unnecessary dealership costs.
The paperwork also mentioned a possible oil leak near the valve cover and warped moldings on the front doors. The owner didn’t explain which repairs were covered under warranty or whether those problems had been fixed.

Other Honda drivers commented about the list and their own experiences, especially about the valve-body and evaporator services. One person said those weren’t on Honda’s regular maintenance schedule and suggested posting the estimate on the dealership’s Google review page.
Someone else said they wouldn’t return to that dealership unless they needed warranty work. They thought some of the services marked for immediate attention were unnecessary.
There was also some disagreement about how soon the work needed to be done. One commenter noticed that certain services were marked “due soon,” which didn’t mean they had to be done that day.
Not everyone thought the prices were bad. A driver from a more expensive area said most of the charges looked reasonable, although they questioned the BG services included in the estimate.
Drivers Disagree Over the Transmission Service

The transmission service was one job that a commenter thought was worth paying for. They said the price seemed fair for Honda parts and labor, but they would have passed on the other recommendations.
Another person argued that a transmission drain and fill could be done at home for less than one-fifth of the dealership’s price. Someone replied that calling the job extremely easy was a bit of a stretch.
One owner said they paid a Honda dealership $185 for transmission service after their Maintenance Minder indicated it was time. Another driver said they had recently spent $510 to have the brake fluid and transmission fluid changed on a 2024 Civic with 40,000 miles.
Honda Uses Maintenance Minder to Track Service
Honda’s Maintenance Minder system uses different codes to tell owners when maintenance is due. Code 3 is for transmission fluid replacement, while code 7 is for brake fluid. Honda also recommends replacing brake fluid every three years if the maintenance reminder hasn’t appeared during that time.
According to the 2025 Civic owner’s manual, owners don’t have to bring their cars to a Honda dealership for regular maintenance to keep their warranties in effect. They can go elsewhere or do the work themselves, but Honda recommends keeping records of completed maintenance.
