On June 19, officers in the Allen County Sheriff’s Department were met with a rather odd scenario for the police to be handling. They had learned that a baby goat was running on I-69 with no family in sight.
Fortunately, these officers weren’t in the business of giving up and took the animal along with them for a ride while searching for its mom. However, this was only after they had to search the perimeter of the interstate and search for the goat in the brush.
It didn’t appear to be injured or even scared of its situation, allowing Officer Thompson to pick it up and move on. From what I could tell, it looks like Officer Thompson rode around with a friend who had the goat, whom they named Baby G, sitting between his legs.
Honestly, Thompson appeared to be far more excited to find the kid’s family than he was, providing some pretty good footage. The video also serves as a reminder that the police are far more capable than their job description entails.
Officer Thompson Quickly Wins Over His New Four-Legged Friend
It isn’t made clear who made the call, though someone decided to let the Allen County Sheriff’s Department know about a goat running near the interstate. Honestly, who knows what could have happened to the animal if it had run into the middle of traffic?
However, Officer Thompson and another officer showed up on the scene to make sure everything was alright. It seems that the goat must have trusted Thompson because throughout the video, it doesn’t seem to mind being moved around at all.
In fact, at the end of the video, you can see that Thompson was even able to snag a pretty good photo of the two of them. The goat didn’t need to wait long before being reunited with its family.
Baby G Finally Reunites With Family After Wild Adventure
Once inside the police cruiser, it looks as though Baby G is sitting between the legs of whoever is in the front passenger’s seat. It isn’t clear exactly how long it was before the goat was reunited with its family, though, judging by the sky, it seemed to be nighttime by the time they were.
It was also not made clear exactly how the officers were able to locate Baby G’s family. However, Officer Thompson was determined to get him back to his family no matter what.
Commenters also felt the connection between the goat and the officer. In fact, many people left behind replies poking fun at the entire situation.
Internet Declares Officer Thompson the Real g.o.a.t.
One of the top comments simply reads, “You’re kidding. 🐐 🤣.” Another praises the officer involved, reading, “Officer Thompson is now officially a G.O.A.T. . . . . GREATEST OF ALL TIME! Great job!”
Other comments were more focused on the goat itself, with my personal favorite reading, “I love how it’s eating the phone cord! I wouldn’t have expected anything else lol! They’re always eating this type of stuff! I went to the zoo recently and one was trying to eat my jacket cuff! They can’t help themselves! I loveeeeeeee goats!!!!”
The video serves as a wholesome reminder that officers can still be called in a situation that warrants an emergency, even if it might not necessarily be in their jurisdiction.
