A man from Gordon County had a very bad day last week when he crashed his car into a stopped fire truck. However, his day went from bad to worse pretty quickly when he allegedly fled the scene. A fire officer later located the driver’s car at a nearby apartment complex.
Calhoun police officers and deputy sheriffs later arrived to arrest Jacob Alan Razo, according to a post shared by the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page.
When they did, Razo allegedly appeared to be intoxicated and kept calling officers “bros” as they cuffed him and took him in. The noteworthy arrest seems to be going viral, and it was even covered by other news outlets, including Atlanta News First, WSB-TV, and Fox 5 Atlanta.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the incident happened on Aug. 20, 2026, at around 1 p.m. Unfortunately, it wasn’t clear if anyone was injured in the crash, nor were there any updates on the condition of the county fire truck as of the time of publication.
A Gordon County Fire Truck Was Stopped When It Was Hit
According to Fox 5 News, the fire truck had been stopped in traffic, waiting to proceed through the intersection of Highway 41 and I-75, when Razo allegedly struck the big red truck. A woman who had been riding in the car with the 31-year-old man when the impact happened later told deputies that she was trying to get out of the car when Razo fled the scene.
A fire officer followed Razo to an apartment complex and called for help.
The Sheriff’s Office Says Razo’s Car Was Easy to Identify When They Arrived
Things seem to have continued to go downhill for Razo once the cavalry arrived.
“Calhoun Police and deputy sheriffs quickly responded and noticed not-so-subtle clues about the automobile, which included extensive damage to both front and rear and deployed airbags inside,” the Facebook post said.
Hilariously enough, it sounds like Razo may have been overly friendly with Calhoun police during the arrest. “Razo appeared inebriated and consistently referred to the officers as ‘bros,'” the post continued. “He told the arresting deputies he ‘was paying for it,’ apparently referencing his car.”
The Gordon County Sheriff’s office also went out of its way to add a note to the post about the crash itself, writing, “Officers noted that fire engines are large, red, and highly visible in traffic.”
The 31-Year-Old Is Now Facing Multiple Charges
While he may have kept things lighthearted during the arrest, things are going to get serious for him pretty quickly. That’s because the Gordon County Sheriff’s Department said he will be facing a laundry list of charges, including leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence, and a series of other unnamed traffic offenses.
But Razo may already know his way around a courthouse, since the Facebook post noted that the driver had been arrested in Calhoun in the past for other offenses, including obstructing peace officers.
Hopefully, everyone inside the fire truck was okay, and there weren’t any injuries to Razo or his passenger during the crash.
