A Carvana customer bought a Ford F-150 with a daytime running light that didn’t work, but everything else seemed fine… at first. The delivery driver pointed out the light and said the warranty would cover the repair, so the buyer decided to keep the truck, thinking it wouldn’t be a big issue.
The F-150 had been shipped from Oklahoma in early September. In a Reddit post, the buyer explained that they’d picked this particular truck because it had everything they wanted.
About a week after getting the truck, the buyer took it to a mechanic to have the running light fixed. The mechanic found an electrical short, which is a more extensive repair than the buyer originally thought.
The F-150 eventually went to a Ford dealership, where it’s been sitting for more than a month. Technicians have tried replacing various parts, but they still haven’t been able to get the light working properly.

The buyer said Ford replaced the headlight assembly, the module that goes with it, and the body control module. None of that fixed the electrical problem.
One person on Reddit suggested replacing the body control module first, then checking the wiring harness if that didn’t resolve the issue. The buyer replied that Ford had already done that and was testing the wires to find the short.
The dealership also told the buyer it was bringing in a senior Ford technician to help. There wasn’t any estimate for when the F-150 would be ready. Then the buyer got another call from Ford. This time, they were told it could take several more weeks to figure out what was wrong.
Carvana Offers 10 Days of Rental Car Reimbursement
After hearing that news, the buyer called Carvana to see what could be done about the truck. They’d already been without it for more than a month and weren’t getting anywhere with the repairs.
According to the buyer, Carvana said the seven-day return period had passed. The representative offered to reimburse them for a 10-day rental car, but couldn’t authorize anything beyond that.
Carvana’s official policy allows customers to return a vehicle within seven days of delivery. The company also includes a limited warranty for 100 days or 4,189 miles. The buyer had taken the truck in for service shortly after delivery, but the light was still broken long after the return period ended.
SilverRock Won’t Approve Moving the Truck
The buyer also tried getting SilverRock, Carvana’s warranty administrator, to approve moving the F-150 to another Ford dealership. They wanted someone else to look into the electrical problem.
SilverRock wouldn’t allow it, according to the buyer. They were told the current dealership would have to say it couldn’t fix the truck or didn’t want to work on it anymore. Some Reddit users suggested pushing Carvana to take the F-150 back. Others thought the Ford dealership should have been able to track down the electrical short by now.
The buyer said Carvana had previously told them to get back in touch if Ford couldn’t repair the truck. They might be willing to work something out, but the buyer hasn’t reported any agreement.
