Bodycam footage from a May 2022 Florida restaurant incident is going viral again more than four years later, drawing about 188,000 views within 10 hours of being uploaded by the Patrol Pro YouTube channel.

The footage follows a Charlotte County sheriff’s deputy from an initial report at an Englewood restaurant to an unexpected encounter with two women hours later.

Restaurant workers told the deputy that two women had left without paying a bill of about $130. A worker said they ran across the parking lot, jumped into a Chevrolet Equinox, and sped away, nearly striking people on a sidewalk.

At that point, the deputy had descriptions of the women, a description of their SUV, and blurry video of the vehicle leaving. What he apparently did not have was a clear license plate.

Three Hours Later

Roughly three hours later, the same deputy spotted a tan Chevrolet Equinox at a nearby gas station. Two women standing near it appeared to match the descriptions he had received.

The conversation initially centered on where the women had been that evening.

One woman said they had stopped at a bar for water and repeatedly emphasized that they were new to Florida. As the deputy continued asking questions, however, her account became difficult to follow.

She said she had been drinking tequila and at different points discussed a restaurant called Arthur’s, where she said she had recently started working. She repeatedly told the deputy that she wanted to go home and worried about what her parents would think if she were arrested.

Eventually, the deputy revealed why he was questioning them.

He told the women there had been an incident at The Waverly involving two people who had not paid their tab, and that their vehicle and appearances matched what witnesses had described.

The Question Changes

The deputy then directly asked whether they had been at The Waverly.

One woman continued denying involvement. The other eventually stopped answering questions, telling the deputy to do what he needed to do.

The deputy told them honesty could affect whether the matter resulted in a court date or an arrest.

As the encounter continued, one of the women began offering to accept responsibility if doing so would prevent her younger sister from being taken into custody.

“I will take that responsibility,” she told the deputies, repeatedly saying she did not want her sister handcuffed.

She also described herself as a college student and expressed concern about how her family would react.

One Charge

By the end of the footage, deputies had placed the women in handcuffs.

Patrol Pro’s narration identifies the younger woman as 20 years old and says she was charged with defrauding an innkeeper under $300. The video does not provide her full name.

Because the incident dates to 2022 and the available footage does not provide sufficient identifying information, Guessing Headlights was unable to independently determine the case’s subsequent disposition from court records.
