Florida Woman Crashes SUV Into Light Pole During Biketoberfest, Blows Triple Legal Limit, Police Say

A 25-year-old Florida woman who crashed her Nissan Xterra into a light pole during Daytona Beach’s Biketoberfest motorcycle gathering registered breath-alcohol readings more than three times the legal DUI threshold, according to police.

Peyton Elisabeth Reck was arrested following the October 14 collision near South Peninsula Drive and Main Street. A Daytona Beach Police Department arrest affidavit describes a late-night crash that left her SUV smoking, damaged a light pole, and prompted a DUI investigation in an area busy with Biketoberfest visitors.

Reck told officers another vehicle had cut her off, causing her to lose control of the Nissan. Her account of the collision has not been independently established, and the available records do not indicate whether she was attending Biketoberfest herself.

Witness Finds Driver Behind the Wheel

Police responded to the crash at approximately 11:30 p.m. A witness who approached the damaged 2010 Nissan Xterra found Reck sitting in the driver’s seat, apparently in shock. Reck subsequently climbed out and walked away from the vehicle before officers spoke with her about what had happened.

Officers estimated the damage to the light pole at approximately $2,500. Although the resulting DUI charge carries a statutory description covering property damage or personal injury, the documented loss involved the pole, with no indication in the available records that anyone else was injured.

During the roadside investigation, Reck declined to perform field sobriety exercises after officers asked her twice. She was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and later submitted to breath testing.

Breath Tests and Criminal Charges

The breath-alcohol report records concentrations of 0.264 and 0.244, approximately 3.3 and 3.05 times Florida’s standard 0.08 DUI threshold. Both readings substantially exceeded the legal threshold for DUI.

Reck was booked into the Volusia County jail on October 15, with separate $1,000 bonds listed for DUI and DUI involving property damage or personal injury. Police also issued a careless-driving citation, alleging that she had been traveling too fast for the conditions.

Court records also show that Reck had previously been cited in March 2025 for driving while her license was suspended or revoked. The reason for the suspension is unclear. In April 2025, she entered the State Attorney’s Getting a License Again to Drive (GLAD) deferred prosecution program, which required her to obtain a valid license and satisfy several other conditions. That case is now closed, although the available docket does not establish whether she completed the program or how the charge was ultimately resolved.

The October DUI case remains open. The available records do not establish whether Reck’s license was valid at the time of the Biketoberfest crash.
