A Florida man is facing nine charges more than a year after deputies say he waved a family through an Orange County intersection and then deliberately drove into them.
The Aug. 16, 2025, crash injured a mother, father, and their two children, including an 8-month-old baby. Detectives say it was not an unfortunate misunderstanding over who had the right of way.
According to an Orange County Sheriff’s Office report obtained by FOX 35 Orlando, investigators identified the maneuver as a staged-crash tactic sometimes called a “left turn wave-thru.”
More than a year later, 51-year-old Jaboule Casimir was arrested. Investigators say he eventually admitted that he intentionally held up traffic and crashed into the family’s vehicle.
Go Ahead
The family had stopped at Forrest Brook Lane before attempting to turn left onto Dr. Phillips Boulevard.
The mother told FOX 35 that Casimir was driving a Jeep Wrangler on Dr. Phillips Boulevard. He did not have a stop sign, but she said he stopped in the roadway anyway and began motioning for her to go.
It was not a quick wave.
The mother estimated that the two drivers spent about 10 to 12 seconds gesturing back and forth before she finally began crossing the road.
Then, she said, the Jeep accelerated.
“I tried to cross the road, and then he just came like with a superfast speed and he hit our car,” she told the station.
The collision deployed the family’s airbags. Their 8-month-old baby was struck in the head by an airbag, while their 6-year-old son’s glasses shattered and left pieces of glass in his eye. The mother suffered a broken arm and an injury to her ear.
“This is not a normal accident. Everything was not normal,” she told FOX 35.
The Wave-Thru
Detectives described the maneuver in their report as a “well-known and well-used staged crash tactic.”
The setup begins at an intersection without traffic signals. According to the report, one driver stops and waves another motorist into a left turn. Once that vehicle moves into the roadway, the first driver accelerates into it and claims the other motorist caused the collision.
Investigators say that is what Casimir ultimately admitted doing.
According to the sheriff’s report cited by FOX 35, Casimir told detectives that he purposely held up traffic and crashed into the family’s vehicle.
The arrest came on Aug. 23, 2026, more than a year after the collision.
Nine Charges
Orange County jail records show Casimir was booked at age 51 in connection with nine charges.
Those include four counts of aggravated battery with a motor vehicle, along with charges involving staging or participating in an intentional motor vehicle collision, insurance fraud, criminal mischief involving at least $1,000, perjury, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
A judge set his combined bond at $54,000.
The sheriff’s report provides one unusually straightforward answer to what otherwise might have remained the central question about the collision.
Detectives say Casimir told them he did it intentionally.
