A Florida man and woman allegedly tried to make a hit-and-run that injured another driver disappear by hiding the damaged truck involved in the crash inside a garage.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Nina Holley, 43, and Matthew Green, 38, both from Palm Coast, following the Aug. 28 crash at the intersection of Russell Drive and Ruth Drive. Investigators say the pair fled the scene, picked up pieces of the damaged truck, and drove to a nearby home.

The pair was driving a silver Dodge Ram when it struck another vehicle with enough force to break its engine block. The driver of the vehicle that was hit was injured.

A witness reported seeing the silver Dodge Ram with front-end damage speeding away from the area. A tip then led deputies to a home on Roxbury Lane, less than a mile from the crash.

Surveillance Camera Caught the Truck

Surveillance footage from a neighbor’s camera showed the damaged Dodge arriving at the Roxbury Lane home approximately three minutes after the crash.

According to deputies, one occupant ran toward the front door while the other opened the garage. The truck was then driven inside, and the garage door was closed.

The tip and surveillance footage helped deputies identify Holley as the driver and Green as the passenger. Investigators also determined that Holley’s driver’s license was suspended and that she had four previous convictions for driving with a suspended license.

Holley was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving injuries, tampering with evidence, and driving with a suspended license as a third or subsequent offense. She was released on a $7,500 bond.

Green was arrested on charges of tampering with evidence and accessory after the fact. He remained in custody without bond.

Both Suspects Have Lengthy Records

Holley has previously been convicted of two felonies involving the sale or possession of controlled substances with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school or park. She served approximately two years in state prison for those convictions.

Her record also includes multiple convictions for possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia, as well as felony petit theft, retail theft, and trespassing.

Green has also served three separate terms in state prison. His convictions include felony sale of oxycodone, attempted robbery, grand theft of a firearm, and attempted burglary of a structure.

The Garage Didn’t Make It Disappear

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said the suspects could not make the evidence disappear simply by putting the damaged truck inside a garage.

“You can try to hide the evidence, but you can’t hide it from the Sheriff’s Office,” Staly said. “These two crashed into someone, injured them, and then figured picking up the pieces and shutting the garage door would make it all disappear.”

All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
