A road rage incident in Hillsborough County, Florida, ended with a man being placed in handcuffs. He is accused of pointing a gun at another driver and, subsequently, switching his license plate to avoid detection.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), the incident occurred on July 29, 2026. At around 6:30 p.m., deputies were alerted to a road rage incident that had occurred on I-75 near the US-301 exit.
Deputies learned that two drivers had engaged in an altercation. One of them, driving a white SUV, was accused of displaying a handgun, pointing it directly at the other driver.
Law enforcement began investigating the incident. Shortly after, they got hold of dashcam footage that showed the precise moment in which the menacing gesture was made.
Displaying Handgun
The HCSO shared the footage online, which showed the white SUV driving past the other driver. With his window down, the man, later identified as 29-ýear-old Jordan Patascher, can be seen pointing something at the camera.
That “something” was later revealed to be the aforementioned gun. Slowed-down and zoomed-in footage of the gesture showed the shouting man holding the firearm.
The vehicle proceeded to drive away, leaving the victim behind. For two days, he remained on the run.
Suspect Arrested
During the investigation, the HCSO accused Patascher of switching his license plate shortly after the incident. This was an attempt, as per the sheriff’s office, to avoid being identified while on the road.
This concealment attempt proved to be unsuccessful. On July 31, 2026, Patascher was located in neighboring Pasco County and arrested by the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
Jordan Patascher is now facing mulitple serious charges. These include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and driving while license revoked (habitual offender).
The possession charge could be the most costly offense of the bunch, potentially in terms of prison time. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years behind bars. In total, if found guilty of all charges, he could spend up to 25 years in prison. A cumulative $20,000 in fines could also end up being ordered by a judge.
