Newly circulated police bodycam footage shows the aftermath of a February 25, 2025 crash at a BMW dealership in Gainesville, Florida, where a customer allegedly drove his vehicle through the showroom windows after being denied financing for a luxury sports car.

Kevin Alexander Leiman, then 20, wanted to purchase a 2025 BMW M4 CS coupe valued at approximately $130,000. However, his financing application was denied, and dealership employees would not allow him to take the vehicle for a test drive.

Police said Leiman became increasingly aggressive, entered an office, and attempted to take a vehicle key before employees instructed him to leave. Instead of departing the property, he allegedly remained in the parking lot for several hours.

Leiman eventually drove around the dealership before accelerating into the showroom windows, shattering glass and damaging the building and a BMW inside. Officers later reviewed surveillance footage documenting the crash.

The footage, published October 1, 2026, by Patrol Cam Live, follows Gainesville Police Department officers as they inspect the damaged showroom, interview employees, and review the dealership’s security cameras.

During the investigation, an officer watching the surveillance recording points out the vehicle’s movement toward the building.

“Oh, you see that acceleration too,” the officer remarks as the footage plays.

Employees told police that broken glass had scattered across the showroom, damaging the protective wrap and finish of a BMW.

According to an account of the arrest report published by the Alachua Chronicle, Leiman allegedly entered the dealership after the crash, punched an employee in the face, and searched through drawers for the M4’s keys.

The arresting officer estimated approximately $50,000 in damage to the building and another $5,000 to the BMW’s paint.

Police Locate Driver

Leiman left the dealership on foot but was located a short distance away.

Bodycam footage shows officers detaining him and attempting to establish what happened. During the encounter, Leiman makes several unusual statements, including telling officers, “You guys are all stuck.”

Officers requested a medical evaluation before transporting him to jail. Gainesville Fire Rescue personnel checked him at the scene.

The Gainesville Police Department’s account confirmed that no injuries were reported from the crash and that the dealership building remained structurally sound.

Arrest and Release

Leiman was arrested on charges of attempted grand theft of a motor vehicle and criminal mischief involving property damage exceeding $1,000.

He was booked into the Alachua County Jail on February 25, 2025.

Judge Meshon Rawls subsequently ordered his release on his own recognizance, subject to substance abuse and mental health treatment requirements and a nightly curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
