The Fastest Sedans of 2025 (In Case You Need to Outrun a Helicopter)

Need to carry four people and outrun a helicopter? Pull off a diamond heist and still make it to dinner reservations on time? These sedans have you covered.

Sure, most people buy sedans for comfort, space, or commuting duty. But what if your commute involves high-speed chases, Autobahn daydreams, or flexing on sports car owners in the left lane? From V8-powered bruisers to silent electric rockets, these four-door missiles prove that practicality and insanity can coexist.

We ranked the fastest production sedans of 2025 by their top speeds. All are available (or nearly available) this year, and while we’re not saying they’re great investments, they are ridiculously cool.

How We Ranked Them

This list is ranked by manufacturer-claimed top speeds, with real-world numbers included when they go even faster. Every car here is a production sedan available in 2025 — no concepts, no one-offs, no tuner shop fantasies.

These are the four doors you turn to when life demands both blistering speed and enough room for passengers, luggage, or a golden retriever with strong opinions.

For comparison: A typical police helicopter cruises at around 100 mph and can top out near 170 mph — impressive, but still slower than every car on this list. That said, we don’t suggest putting this to the test. These sedans are fast, not invisible, and outrunning a chopper makes for great movie scenes, not great life choices.

2025 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing — 189 MPH

Cadillac remains one of the few American brands still committed to building true performance sedans — and the CT4-V Blackwing proves you don’t need a V8 to have fun.

Under the hood is a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 making 472 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. That’s good for a 0–60 mph sprint in just 3.9 seconds. It may be the least powerful car on this list, but with available rear-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual, it’s easily one of the most engaging to drive.

2025 Audi RS7 Performance — 190 MPH

Audi used to trail behind in the German performance race, but not anymore. With its latest Performance models, Audi has made it clear that it’s done playing catch-up.

The RS7 Performance packs a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, now cranking out 621 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. That boost drops its 0–60 time to a blistering 3.0 seconds. And if you need more cargo space without losing the drama, there’s always the RS6 Avant — the RS7’s equally wild wagon sibling.

Even EV skeptics have a hard time dismissing the Porsche Taycan, especially in its top-tier Turbo GT form. It’s the most powerful production car Porsche has ever built, with dual motors delivering 1,019 hp and 915 lb-ft of torque.

Even with the lightweight Weissach Package, the Taycan still tips the scales at 4,925 lbs. But it doesn’t matter — it rockets from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.1 seconds and hits 190 mph, keeping pace with the fastest gas-powered sedans out there.

The new M5 blends brute force with hybrid tech; not every purist is happy about it. At 5,390 lbs, it’s heavier than ever, but its twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 and electric motor combo churns out 717 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.

Despite the added weight, performance holds strong. With the M Driver’s package, it hits 190 mph and does 0–60 mph in 3.4 seconds. Love it or not, this hybrid bruiser still earns its spot as a top-tier German sleeper.

You no longer need an S-Class to experience peak Mercedes luxury. The AMG GT 63 S E Performance delivers supercar-crushing performance in a four-door package that still oozes exclusivity.

Its hand-built twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, paired with an electric motor and 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, produces a staggering 831 hp and 1,032 lb-ft of torque. That’s good for a 0–60 time of just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 197 mph. At nearly $200,000, it’s pricey — but few sedans can match its blend of power, tech, and presence.

2025 Tesla Model S Plaid — 200 MPH

The Tesla Model S Plaid is still going strong for 2025, and its base price of $94,990 remains a bargain relative to its performance. Like the Taycan, it doesn’t matter how you feel about EVs—the Plaid is absurdly fast.

With three electric motors producing 1,020 hp and a mind-bending amount of torque, Tesla claims it can hit 60 mph in under two seconds and top out at 200 mph. It may not have the polish of its luxury-brand rivals, but when it comes to raw speed, the Plaid is in a league of its own, and yes, it is still far more appealing than a Cybertruck.

Meet the CT4’s bigger, badder brother,  the CT5-V Blackwing. Cadillac recently gave it a light refresh, updating the design inside and out while wisely leaving the heart untouched.

Under the hood is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 producing 668 hp and 659 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual or optional 10-speed automatic. With a 0–60 time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph, it’s one of the fastest and last true American muscle sedans.

2025 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid — 202 MPH

The redesigned Panamera doesn’t just look sharper — it’s quicker, too. At the top of the lineup sits the Turbo S E-Hybrid, combining a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with a single electric motor for a total output of 771 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque.

It may be big and luxurious, but this hybrid hauls. Porsche claims a 0–60 mph time of 2.8 seconds and a 202 mph top speed, proving once again that efficiency and performance can absolutely go hand in hand.

2025 Alpina B8 GT — 205 MPH

The Alpina B8 GT is technically the fastest gasoline-powered sedan in the world — but there’s a catch: it’s not officially available in the U.S. This limited-edition model (only 99 built) is sold exclusively in Europe, though its close sibling, the standard Alpina B8 Gran Coupe, is available at select U.S. BMW dealerships.

Based on the BMW M8 Gran Coupe, the B8 GT trades aggression for elegance, wrapping serious speed in understated luxury. Its twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 makes 634 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, good for 0–60 in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph. If you’re lucky enough to find one stateside, you’re looking at the ultimate four-door sleeper.

2025 Lucid Air Sapphire — 205 MPH

The Lucid Air Sapphire is the fastest production sedan in the world — period. With one motor up front and two at the rear, it delivers a mind-bending 1,234 hp and 1,430 lb-ft of torque.

Lucid claims it rockets from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.89 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 8.95 seconds — numbers that rival the world’s top hypercars. And with a top speed of 205 mph, it doesn’t just dominate off the line — it keeps pulling all the way to triple digits.

At $249,000, it’s also the most expensive sedan on this list, but it earns that price tag with sheer, unrelenting performance and cutting-edge EV engineering.

Don’t mistake these for smart investments — most will shed value faster than they gain speed

Forget everything you thought you knew about sedans being boring A-to-B boxes. These cars are fast enough to embarrass supercars, carry a full crew, and still have trunk space for snacks or gear, depending on your mission.

Whether you’re into twin-turbo V8s, silent-but-violent EVs, or hybrids that launch like rockets, there’s something here that proves you don’t have to trade speed for practicality. In 2025, your daily driver can also be your getaway car — just, you know, keep it legal.
