A man visited a FedEx office in Memphis to collect a large parcel and decided to open it in front of the employees before taking it home.
What happened next caught everyone by surprise. One employee screamed and ran across the office, while another quickly retreated to a corner to get out of harm’s way.
Packages can sometimes contain unexpected items, but no one inside the office expected a live animal to burst out of the box and run loose.
The package was clearly labeled to indicate that it contained a live animal. While the employee who handed the parcel to the customer appeared to anticipate what might happen, another stood nearby, seemingly expecting the customer to keep the animal under control. Instead, it escaped the moment the box was opened.
“Live Temperature Sensitive Animal”
The video, recorded and posted on Instagram by Roderick Duncan (@chefp_), showed a FedEx worker bringing out his parcel from the storeroom, a large white box bearing a label that read, “Live Temperature Sensitive Animal,” along with arrows indicating the correct upright position.
However, the mood in the office was about to change in an instant after Duncan opened the box, prompting the large iguana, named Titan, to escape inside the FedEx office.
Bringing the box out, the FedEx worker was curious about the big parcel and asked Duncan what he was going to do with it. After placing the box on the counter, the worker asked him, “How big is he now?” Duncan joked that the iguana was six feet long.
The worker then stepped away as Duncan opened the box with his knife, while another worker stood nearby, waiting to see what was in the box. Inside the box was a white bag containing the iguana.
However, Duncan decided to simply empty the bag into the box by turning it upside down, and that was when all hell broke loose in the office. As soon as the iguana fell into the box, the reptile ran for its life across the counter, scaring the nearby worker, who screamed uncontrollably.
She tried escaping into the room behind her but fell, while Duncan watched all of this and laughed. The iguana, meanwhile, was running around the office and eventually entered the warehouse. Another FedEx worker helped Duncan track the iguana, which was then rescued and put back into the bag.
Duncan revealed in the caption that he expected the iguana to be stiff when he opened the box, but that clearly wasn’t the case. Stating that no one was hurt, he wrote:
“He was shipped overnight, and I expected him to be stiff for a minute like most reptiles after shipping… Nope. 🤣 Titan came out ready for ALL the smoke.
“Nobody got hurt, everybody ended up laughing, and shoutout to the FedEx workers—they handled it like champs! 😂 Aunty made it out just fine.
“Welcome to the family, Titan! 🦎💪”

Users Question the Way the Iguana Was Transported
Instagram users have questioned why the iguana was transported that way in a bag stored inside a box. One user wrote, “That’s how they’re shipped? Wow. In a dust bag is crazy lol.”
Another user questioned, “Since when do they ship reptiles in a box to fedex😭,” while one user asked, “Why they let you open it in the first place?” A user posted a similar question, writing, “Now why did you just dump him out the dust bag like a new purse??? 😂” [sic]
One user addressed the comment to Duncan, writing, “And you justa laughing! Come get yo animal 😂.” [sic]
After this encounter, it’s safe to say the FedEx staff probably won’t ask anyone to open a parcel in the office again.
