A Michigan woman is going viral on Threads after sharing photos from a walk she and her husband took around the pond. The duo had been visiting the waterway to check out the lotus blooms, but instead of getting to spend their afternoon relaxing in nature, they may have stumbled across something sinister instead.
That’s because @lindieloutoo believes they found a submerged car hiding under the aquatic plants. While they initially thought contacting the local Department of Natural Resources (DNR) was all they needed to do, Threads convinced the pair that more had to be done.
Armed with photos of the presumed wreckage, the woman announced additional plans to reach out to the authorities. Meanwhile, Threads users are waiting for more updates about the case to see what is going on.

A Dashboard Appeared to Lurk Under Lotus Flowers in a Michigan Pond
The Threads user shared a series of photos on social media. “My husband and I like to tour the lotus blooms. They are beautiful,” she began a post that featured images of the vibrant leaves.
But when the Threads user spotted a fishing bobber and leaned over to take a photo of the brightly colored item, her husband said something that almost stopped her in her tracks, asking her if she saw a car under the water.
The Second Photo Shows What Looks Like Part of a Dashboard
Upon closer inspection, there did appear to be a dashboard visible underwater, and you could kind of make out air vents and other familiar parts. “Emailed the DNR to find the story about the car,” another post in the thread continued. “They emailed back that they’re unaware of any vehicle in the water and will forward my email to the local police.”
Initially thinking it was just someone illegally disposing of old auto parts, the poster said she didn’t immediately worry about the find. However, after posting on Threads and hearing feedback from people, she began to second guess herself.
Her Post Quickly Went Viral
Within a day, her post had received thousands of likes and hundreds of comments from concerned readers. “It’s a more common thing than you think,” one person wrote alongside a video from a company that removes discarded automobiles from waterways. “Recently Living Lands and Waters removed over 50 cars from the Ohio and Allegheny. Here’s who to call to get that car removed.”
Other people offered suggestions, including one person who thought that the internet sleuths over at Reddit could help. “There is a subreddit where they can identify cars based on even a small part, I don’t know the name of the subreddit, but that might be an interesting place to post this picture,” they wrote.
She Posted an Update a Day After Her Original Post
Those who were following along in hopes of seeing this mystery through to the end may be disappointed. In a post shared the morning of July 29, 2026, she said the police department had told her that the pond fell in the jurisdiction of the next county over and she emailed all the info over to them.
“Well, the good news is you won’t find an Amazon link from me on this post,” she joked. “The bad news is I do not know if this will ever be looked into by the ‘authorities’ and if it is, I don’t know if they will tell me anything.”
Her best advice was to keep an eye on Detroit’s news, because if it turns out to be anything, she believes it will be reported there first.
