There are plenty of things you’d expect to find underneath a construction vehicle. Dirt, grease, hydraulic lines, and maybe a wrench that someone swore they didn’t lose.
A tiny kitten? Probably not.
That’s exactly what happened in a TikTok video that’s quickly winning people over online, with over 680,000 likes and 4.1 million views. What starts as an ordinary moment on what appears to be a construction site suddenly turns into a rescue after a worker opens a hatch beneath a Komatsu excavator.
Honestly, it’s one of those videos that gets a lot cuter the longer you watch it.
Nobody Expected a Kitten To Be Riding Inside the Excavator

The short clip opens with a worker walking over to the side of a large yellow Komatsu excavator. Instead of climbing into the cab or inspecting the tracks, he heads straight for one of the lower access panels underneath the machine.
With one quick kick of his boot, the hatch swings open and out falls a small beige kitten that somehow managed to make the heavy equipment its temporary home. The little furball looks more confused than frightened, almost as if it had been caught taking the world’s most dangerous nap.
The video doesn’t explain how the kitten ended up inside the excavator, but cats have a habit of squeezing into warm, enclosed spaces whenever they get the chance. Engine bays, wheel wells, and equipment compartments are all common hiding spots, especially for younger cats looking for somewhere safe to rest.
Commenters Already Picked the Kitten’s New Name
Naturally, the internet also got to work naming the tiny stowaway. Suggestions ranged from Rustbucket (or Rusty for short) to Komatsu, Swing Drive, and even Trap Door the Cat. Others leaned into video game humor, joking that the “cat distribution system has a gacha mechanic now,” while another quipped that “tactical kitten deployed.”
Several commenters couldn’t get over the kitten’s dramatic entrance. “He sticks the landing, 10/10,” one person wrote, while another joked that it looked like the kitten had “dropped like loot.” Plenty of viewers also hoped the construction worker decided to keep the little hitchhiker, with one simply asking, “Please tell me you kept it.”
Judging by the overwhelming response, this unexpected construction-site rescue may have found the internet’s newest favorite mascot.
