A classic car driver died Friday evening after crashing into the back of an SUV on a busy road in Hesperia, California. The collision left the older vehicle badly damaged and its driver dead at the scene.

The crash happened November 6, 2026, shortly after 5:26 p.m. on Main Street, just east of Timberlane Avenue. A red 2004 GMC Yukon Denali was also involved.

According to Victor Valley News Group, the classic car struck the rear of the Yukon while both vehicles were in the westbound lanes. What caused the driver to hit the SUV has not been established.

Photos taken afterward show a car with features of a traditional lowrider, including a low stance and an exterior sun visor. The driver did not survive, and the crash shut down part of Main Street.

A Deadly Collision

San Bernardino County Fire personnel responded to the scene, where they pronounced the classic car’s driver dead. According to the local report, the driver was found in the roadway beside the vehicle.

Loved ones later arrived and learned what had happened. The report described family members as visibly upset after hearing that the driver had died.

Although the car’s styling stands out, its exact make, model, and year have not been confirmed. The vehicle appears to have features often found on classic lowriders known as “bombs” or “bombas.”

These cars are often older American models that owners restore or customize with period-style parts. Exterior sun visors and lowered suspensions are among the features associated with that style. However, those details alone are not enough to identify the vehicle involved in this crash.

Main Street Closed

Following the collision, Main Street was closed in both directions between Peach Avenue and Timberlane Avenue. The closure gave crews room to work and allowed the crash scene to be examined.

The westbound lanes were where the classic car struck the Yukon, but the available report does not explain how fast either vehicle was moving. It also does not establish whether either driver tried to avoid the collision.

Details about the Yukon driver and any possible passengers were not included in the initial report. No injuries involving its occupants were confirmed in the information available.

The classic car driver’s name has not been independently verified through a public coroner’s report. No official finding about the cause of the collision has been confirmed, either.

Victor Valley News Group published its initial report on Friday evening, describing the crash as an ongoing investigation. At the time of that report, Main Street remained closed between Peach Avenue and Timberlane Avenue.
