These photos may look like a staged police exercise. Castle Rock police say the arrest happening in them was anything but.
Members of several Castle Rock Police Department teams converged near downtown last week to arrest a suspect wanted in connection with a homicide investigation in another state.
The Castle Rock Police Department said investigators from another jurisdiction asked for help locating and arresting the person. Police have not identified the suspect, the requesting agency or the state where the homicide is being investigated.
CRPD described the person only as a suspect wanted in connection with the investigation. Its post did not disclose what charges, if any, the person faces in the homicide case.

Officers from CRPD’s Community Action Team, Special Response Team, Patrol and Traffic units located the suspect near downtown Castle Rock and made the arrest without incident, according to the department.
Police did not explain how officers located the person or what led investigators in the other jurisdiction to Castle Rock.
That unanswered question surfaced repeatedly beneath the department’s post, where commenters asked whether the town’s automated license plate readers played a role. CRPD has publicly said it uses stationary license plate readers to help locate wanted people and vehicles, but the department did not say the technology was used in this arrest.
Few Details
CRPD released several photos from the operation but provided no exact arrest location or date, only that it happened last week.
The department also did not identify the homicide victim, describe the underlying case or give information about extradition or the suspect’s current custody status.
A search for additional reporting and public information did not yield an independent identification of the arrested person or of the homicide investigation connected to the operation.
