An incident has come to light from California where a DUI suspect showed no remorse in her shocking statement to the police, highlighting the rising danger of drunk driving incidents.
Anabell Correa was driving drunk when she allegedly crashed into a rideshare vehicle, killing a young couple who were enjoying their night out together. Little did they know that would be their last ride ever.
While Anabell was taken into custody, the crash also left two other occupants injured, including the driver.
The couple’s family ended up setting up a GoFundMe page for the funeral, marking a tragic time. As for Anabell, she now faces serious charges, but the question remains if the punishment would be serious enough to deter other drivers from driving under the influence.
St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Turns Tragic

According to a report by the New York Post, the incident dates back to March of last year, when Desiree and Max Mooney were heading home after a St. Patrick’s Day night out in Bakersfield, California. Traveling along with the couple was their friend Tayler Wells.
Correa, who was 21 at that time, was heading eastbound on Stockdale Highway when she allegedly jumped a red light and crashed into the rideshare vehicle that the Mooneys and Wells were traveling in.
The impact killed the couple, while Wells suffered broken bones throughout her body to the point where she had to relearn how to walk, and she also lost her teeth. The rideshare driver was not spared either. She reportedly had bleeding from her brain and suffered a fractured neck.
A friend of Desiree’s mother set up a GoFundMe account, which revealed that Desiree had just turned 30 two months before the incident. The page has raised upwards of $27,000. The description reads:
“My name is Liz Garcia, I’m helping organize this for my friend Cyndi Garcia, after the loss of her daughter and son in law. Desiree Paula Noelle and Max Austin Mooney came home to Bakersfield to start their lives together after being away for a few years. Desiree had just celebrated her 30th birthday in January and like any couple were enjoying their lives responsibly.
“Last Sunday morning, March 16th, they went out and though they made a good decision by contacting an Uber driver to take them home, another girl did not, she chose to drive that morning, under the influence.
“Her vehicle collided with the one Desiree and Max were in taking both Desiree’s and Max’s lives and injuring not only the Uber driver but others on the road that morning.
“No parent should bury their children, but it is with that need that I come to you on behalf of the Garcia and Mooney families. Several families lost their children that day, and while some will recover the void of the loss of Desiree and Max will be felt forever.”
Correa Said She Only Drank One Twisted Tea
Following Correa’s arrest, she told officers, “I drank one Twisted Tea, bro,” as per court documents. Another statement of hers suggested she had no regrets that her actions had claimed the lives of an innocent couple:
“I’m never seeing my kid, huh, just because I drove and drank one, two drinks.”
On the night of the incident, Correa was allegedly driving without a license. Her blood alcohol level was 0.088%, which was way above the 0.080% legal limit. A Kern County judge said in February that there was enough evidence to suggest Correa was responsible for the incident.
The case will head to trial in August. Correa now faces ten charges, including two counts of murder. She remains in custody without bail and has pleaded not guilty.
Correa’s attorney argued that she should be charged with manslaughter instead of murder because of her record. However, in her statement to the police after the incident, she admits to knowing the dangers of drunk driving.
