The potential partnership between Genesis and Lucid Motors has been keeping the automotive world awake late at night. There’s no denying that Lucid’s electric powertrain technology is in a league of its own. The same can be said about Genesis’s design prowess, with some of the arguably best looking EVs out there sporting the winged logo. But the two companies working together on the next-generation electric vehicle? That’s like putting chocolate on peanut butter – a match made in heaven.
South Korean Innovation Meets American Ingenuity
Genesis is Hyundai’s luxury arm, and as such, it has access to the latest EV technology. We don’t need to look far for examples — Genesis GV60 and GV70 are real head-turners, and Hyundai’s own Ioniq 5 N sports the most advanced (and powerful) powertrain to ever leave the South Korean automaker. That powertrain will soon run the GV60 Magma, starting a new chapter in Genesis’ history.
It seems that being good is not enough for Genesis. The company wants the best for its customers, which we can clearly see with its Genesis X concept car. A stunning electric convertible, first shown at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show, is just a glimpse of what’s coming next. There is an entire series of high-performance EVs waiting to jump off the designer’s screens and onto our roads, and Lucid is apparently helping to make them a reality.
Power, Efficiency And Range
Lucid Air electric sedan is nothing short of a groundbreaking electric vehicle. It is powerful, yet it manages a ridiculous 516-mile range on a single charge — it is the longest-range EV in North America. The secret is in Lucid’s electric motors. They are incredibly powerful yet frugal, and most interestingly, they are very compact, allowing the automaker extra flexibility when it comes to design.
Lucid Motors isn’t shy about sharing its technology and expertise. The company has partnered with Aston Martin to supply electric motors for its next EV. The company’s CEO, Peter Rawlinson, is open to collaboration with other automakers, making the possibility of partnership with Genesis all the more plausible.
It’s a win-win scenario for both companies. Genesis could get its hands on the industry’s most powerful and efficient electric motors, significantly reducing the development time of the new EV. For Lucid, it means yet another customer for its technology, creating a handsome side hustle and helping to keep the lights on. And for us, it means the gorgeous Genesis X can become a reality much quicker – everybody wins.
