Some rather amusing and also scary dashcam footage has emerged showing what happens when a pickup truck driver has almost no patience. The last thing you expect to see on a highway is a driver trying to shove their way through traffic, but karma can work in beautiful ways.

User pinkivora uploaded this 40-second clip to Reddit’s r/dashcams subreddit. In the video, a pickup truck is seen tailgating someone down a highway, looking like they will do anything possible to try to get past the car that was in front.

However, it seemed that the patience had run out incredibly quickly. The truck suddenly shoots in front of the dashcam vehicle to try to perform an overtake on the car in front. This driver, however, may need their license taken away after that move.

The truck driver clearly bit off more than they could chew, as they lost control, hit another car that was on the highway, and then hit a barrier that was also on the highway. At the time of writing, the video already had 25,000 upvotes after just a few days on the subreddit.

What Did the Pickup Truck Driver Do?

In the footage, the pickup driver is tailgating the car in front, wanting to get in front of it. The driver inches closer and closer to the car in front as the clip goes on, but suddenly they decided they’d had enough. The truck shot right over to the right-hand lane, which is where the drama in the clip really began.

The pickup shoots in front of the dashcam vehicle and into the right lane, but sadly for the driver, he totally misjudged what he was doing. The truck ends up on the hard shoulder, and the driver loses control and crashes into the side of an SUV that was already in that lane. At the same time it clipped the SUV, the pickup also clipped the barrier that was on that side of the highway.

The SUV appeared to get away with little damage. The same can’t be said of the pickup, which looked to have suffered extensive damage. Debris from the accident flew around, and the truck appeared to be crabbing along the highway. In a vaguely impressive move, the truck driver still seemed determined to get past the cars in front, but at this point, it would be better to just park up and realize you have made a big mistake.

What Did Reddit Users Think?

Reddit users waded in with their opinions, which, unsurprisingly, didn’t come out too well for the pickup truck driver. “Bro couldn’t have picked a worse time to make that maneuver,” said the top comment on the video. “If you’re going to do something stupid, at least be safe about it!” said another in response. “Life is hard, but it’s a lot harder if you’re stupid,” added another with a very blunt opinion on the matter. Most people said that if you are going to do something stupid, at least do it in a safe manner.

One user added quite a contentious take, stating that the car in front was potentially baiting the truck. “They were 100% baiting the truck. Even though it’s fully on the truck for taking the bait, that car in the front is still at least partially responsible for what happened to that other innocent driver,” they said. That comment created a lot of debate, so much so that the poster of the comment had to come back and clarify their reasoning. Whatever you may think, most of these Reddit users felt the pickup driver just acted very stupidly.
