Imagine driving down the highway, minding your own business, when someone aggressively tries to squeeze past you. Then imagine that same driver shoves past you and suddenly slams on the brakes. But thankfully, you captured the whole incident on your dashcam.
Well, that is exactly what happened in this situation, shown in a dashcam video. Footage uploaded by a Reddit user to the r/dashcams subreddit shows a driver shoving past another car on the highway while in the hard shoulder, before apparently causing a deliberate accident.
At the time of writing, the footage had 12,000 upvotes and over 900 comments. The short clip shows a car aggressively barging past the dashcam vehicle for some reason, and then slamming the brakes. It looked like a deliberate ploy to cause an accident, and it did see the dashcam car rear-end the vehicle in front.
As you would expect, Reddit users went crazy after seeing the video. Nobody had any sympathy towards the car that had aggressively barged past in the video. It is a classic example of road rage, and something clearly made this driver boil over in a big way.

The car we are riding in appears to be moving from the right lane to the left lane. However, the car behind appears to be doing the same, but it makes the move much faster and with much more aggression. It looks like unfortunate timing that the dashcam vehicle was merging at the same time, but the closing speed of the car behind certainly didn’t help.
The two cars enter the left lane, but the car behind the dashcam vehicle was clearly not happy. They must have felt entitled to more room, or that they should have been in front, because they then smashed past the dashcam vehicle and pushed it out of the way while it was at the edge of the lane. It was incredibly aggressive, and even if you felt like you had been cut off, you wouldn’t react like that.
What happens next is even more shocking. The car that just shoved past us slammed on its brakes, and the dashcam vehicle had no time to react. They slammed into the back of the sedan, causing big rear-end damage and presumably damaging the front of their car too. But there was no time for them to react, and it looked like a deliberate act by the car in front. Reddit users, of course, were all over the incident.
Reddit Users Couldn’t Believe What They Had Seen
Users on Reddit who watched the video were appalled by what they saw. “I hope the insurance worked out. What a stupid driver. Can’t wait for the idiots that will say something about how it’s your fault,” said the top comment. Only a fool would blame the dashcam vehicle’s driver. It looked like the camera car did move over as the car behind tried to change lanes as well. But that doesn’t mean you should cause an accident.
Some wondered whether the car that slammed on its brakes was trying to pull a scam. “An insurance scam attempt is the only thing I can think of when watching this video,” said one user. “The car is too new for a scam attempt. That’s just an idiot,” said another. What it looks like is either a bizarre scam attempt that was cut off, or pure road rage that boiled over into something incredibly stupid.
Slamming the brakes on like that is a massive overreaction.
