Imagine installing a brand-new dashcam in your car. You would probably expect to grab some entertaining footage, but after a few hours at minimum- not, say, within the first 30 minutes of use. Yet that is exactly what happened to this user on Reddit.
Reddit user Imaginary-Garden2304 posted a video on the r/dashcams subreddit, showing them using a new dashcam they had recently installed in their car. And, incredibly, they said they had caught an ‘idiot’ driving badly just 30 minutes after installing the dashcam in the car.
In the video, the Reddit user is just casually driving out of a parking lot, possibly after getting food. Yet it as he exits the parking lot that he sees something wild as a car suddenly appears to cut out the road entirely and make its way off-road to the parking lot.
As you would imagine, this took the driver of the dashcam car by surprise. We can hear the Reddit user letting out an expletive as he sees them cutting across the grass for no apparent reason. It seems some people just think the law doesn’t apply to them.
What the Bizarre Dashcam Footage Shows

The dashcam footage shows the driver of the car appearing to be exiting a Popeyes after getting something to eat. As he turns left and out of the restaurant, we see a white SUV suddenly cut right across the grass, as if it were completely normal and they were within their rights to do so. Quite clearly, they should not be there.
“What in the [expletive]?” we hear the Reddit user exclaim as he watches the car cross the grass. It seems scarcely believable that anyone would even do that. Forget that they are in an SUV with four-wheel drive for a second; you simply should not cut across the grass when driving to get to where you want to be.
“First day of dashcam,” the driver of the car can be heard saying. We can also hear the driver laughing as he tries to process what it is that just happened. This video was bound to get a few laughs, and it certainly did, as plenty of people watching it on Reddit simply could not quite believe what they were watching.
“What, I’m just NOT supposed to use my 4-wheel drive?” said the top comment on the video. “Everybody is always complaining about people not using their SUVs for their purpose; now they complain because they do, smh,” said another.
Reddit Users Couldn’t Believe Their Eyes

Of course, they were all making fun of the situation. There is no way on Earth that you would even attempt to do this normally, unless perhaps there was an emergency or you had been stuck in traffic for hours. Those watching on Reddit were just barely able to believe what they had seen.
“I’ve thought that so many times sitting stuck in traffic in my Outback. I never try bc I’d immediately be the dude who gets hung up on a curb or discovers a mystery drainage ditch lol,” said another comment.
“Idiot, or genius? Matter of interpretation. Sometimes in life we must color outside the lines,” said another.
Of all the videos on the subreddit, it is probably one of the most amusing. Not just for the sheer sight of the SUV running across the grass, but also for the way the dashcam owner reacts, barely able to contain himself. When he went to Popeyes, he probably didn’t expect to see that as he left for home.
