A video has revealed just how long truck drivers live on the road, as they can often spend days and days away from home. So making their semi-trucks feel a lot more like a living space is key to the comfort of a truck driver.

The video was a collaboration between Supercar Blondie and Yigityusufgolbas, aiming to show just how truckers can make their trucks feel more like home. That doesn’t just mean ensuring you get a good night’s sleep, but also ensuring you are able to cook as well.

Yigityusufgolbas was able to show not only the sleeping area, but also the cooking area and some of the amazing features he was able to tuck into the truck. The outside hides the fact that you can actually squeeze quite a lot of good stuff into the cabin of a semi-truck.

Staying overnight in the truck is quite beneficial. It means you aren’t leaving cargo or your truck outside unattended if you stay in a hotel, and it also saves money on a hotel, too. With the right additions and changes, a semi-truck can be a very comfortable living space.

Making the Most of Every Inch of the Truck

One of the most intriguing aspects of the truck was how the driver handled his meals. In the video, we can see a small stove has been set up inside the cab, allowing him to prepare his own meals. This means the truck driver is not entirely reliant on restaurants or roadside stops and can cook almost anything in the truck’s cabin. It is a win-win situation when you are on the road for so long.

The video shows the trucker preparing a meal, with him cutting up salmon and cooking pasta. It proves how versatile truckers can be and how their cabs really can become like new homes. It must be stressed that this can change depending on the truck itself and its layout. You may not be able to squeeze a cooking area into every truck, but if you can do so, it can really help you out.

Preparing the cabin for sleep is another area that the video covered. In this instance, Yigityusufgolbas is seen folding the steering wheel away, allowing for more room for him to put his bed. This turned the driving area into a sleeping area, and we can see him pulling curtains around the cab to create a nice, private space to relax and sleep. It is an interesting transformation that clearly shows how multi-purpose the cabs of these large trucks have to be.

Drivers like this are very much in the truck for the long haul. Depending on the job they are working, they are usually away from home for many days at a time, and the trucks have to be comfortable. There is no point in having an uncomfortable living space if you need to spend around 80 percent of your time in it. They aren’t going to be able to turn a truck into a dream home, as that is just impossible. But they can be made as comfortable as possible for the drivers, so they can get a bit of downtime when not on the road.
