A man has taken to TikTok to discuss a bizarre incident where two Kia vehicles were brought to his workshop, only to find that the rear seat had been lifted from the car’s body. The mechanic couldn’t believe what he was hearing until he saw the cars up close.

TikTok user Andrew (@allchipnodip06) normally says his page is satire; however, this is not a joke by any means. A customer had come to him saying that the back seats had popped up in their Kia, and it was something Andrew didn’t believe.

He didn’t fully understand what the customer meant. However, after he saw the car in person, he saw that the entire backseat had been detached from the body of the Kia. The seat had also been pushed forward quite noticeably, revealing just how much damage there was.

It left a lot of people in the comments section quite surprised, and as we can hear from Andrew in his video, he was quite shocked at what he could see as well. It turned out that there was another Kia on his lot with the same issue, and there was a potential explanation for it.

What Andrew Found With the Two Kias

@allchipnodip06 Completely lost for words, also KIA is not buying them back 😂😂😂😂😂 #kia #gas #kiaforum #fyp #mechaniclife ♬ original sound – Noah Pranks

The video currently has more than 90,000 views on TikTok at the time of writing. Looking at the Kia in person, he could see that the entire backseat had been detached from the body of the vehicle. The seat had also been quite noticeably pushed upward, which also came as a shock to Andrew. What is perhaps more worrying is that, while the seat was noticeably damaged, there was something else wrong with the Kia too.

“The whole gas tank basically imploded,” said Andrew. Adding to this was the fact that the Kia first shown wasn’t the only one that had the problem. Andrew found another Kia on his lot that had the same problem around the rear seat as well as the gas tank problem. “Completely lost for words; also, Kia is not buying them back,” Andrew said in the video’s caption. An issue like this should really set off alarm bells.

There is a known Kia gas tank defect that can cause the tanks to deform. What we don’t know is whether the cars in Andrew’s video were affected by this problem. In November 2025, Kia recalled over 250,000 2021-2024 Kia K5 models with the 1.6-liter T-GDI engine. The NHTSA said a check valve in the purge-control system was prone to deterioration, allowing pressurized air to flow into the tank. This could cause the tank to expand, and if the car is driven more with this problem, the tank can melt, leak fuel, and even be at risk of catching fire. It is little wonder that a recall was issued.

There was plenty of chatter in the video’s comments section about what had happened to the Kia. “Someone didn’t have their check valve recall done… oooooops,” one said. One simply said, “Womp womp,” in response to the issue with the Kias. One user said, “As someone who owned a repair shop, I always tell people to never buy a Nissan or Kia/Hyundai”.

One user offered a detailed explanation as to what might have happened with the cars. “There’s a recall for that, which is the check valve, which lets air out of [the] gas tank. You don’t do it, then it doesn’t let air out, and that happens. You ignore the recall; Kia won’t buy it back,” they said. Whatever has happened here, it was enough to shock Andrew in a big way.
