A woman has taken to TikTok to say that she caught a mechanic in a lie. She claimed that after taking her car in for some work after noticing it shaking, her mechanic tried to scam her in a shocking video.
TikTok user Bailey (@baiii.529) said in her video that the trip to the mechanic had left her feeling taken advantage of. Bailey had noticed that her car was starting to shake after she reached around 60mph while she was traveling on the highway.
She didn’t know what was up. Bailey thought it could need a tire rotation, balance or alignment. So she thought the best thing to do was to take it to a local shop to get the car looked at. That is exactly what she did, and she explained what was going on to the mechanic.
Bailey discussed the problem with an employee and told him that the shaking was taking place at around 70mph. He recommended balancing the tires and also looked at the front tires and suggested they needed replacing. But it was when the manager came over that things took a turn.
What Happened at the Mechanic’s Workshop?

While the workers were rebalancing the tires, Bailey said that another worker, whom she thought was the manager, came over to talk to her. This worker told her that she needed to replace all four tires on the car and get an alignment, much to Bailey’s surprise.
“I genuinely thought that he was joking,” she said in her video. She asked why he thought that was the case and even explained that two of the tires were quite new.
“I don’t think you did,” the mechanic said, not believing that two of the tires had recently been replaced. This worker then said the rear tires were in terrible condition, and only the front tires were good. The exact opposite of what the first employee had told her when she brought the car in.
“Do I really look that stupid to you? Is it the fake lashes that make me look that dumb and gullible?” Bailey said, recalling what she was thinking.
Bailey didn’t want to argue, nor did she want to agree to getting more work done on the car. So she decided to just pay for the balance and leave. After driving away and reaching 70mph, the shaking was gone, and the problem appeared to have been solved.
“Guess what? My car’s not shaking anymore. The problem is fixed,” she said. “How are you gonna sit here and tell me the literal exact opposite of what your employee just told me a minute ago?” added Bailey. Clearly, she felt the manager was trying to scam her.
Why a Car Can Sometimes Shake
If your car is shaking, it’s not a problem that you should ignore. There are quite a few reasons why it might be shaking. For example, if the car is shaking under braking, you might have uneven brake rotors or even worn brake pads. Suspension problems can also cause vibrations, especially as you slow down. In Bailey’s case, as the shaking was taking place at 70mph, it appeared that an imbalance was causing the problem.
Wheel alignment problems and worn suspension components can also affect the stability of a car. Faulty spark plugs and clogged fuel injectors could cause your car to start to shake during regular driving. Worn engine mounts and steering issues can also be responsible for the shaking. Bailey is lucky that she stood her ground, because when the problem was fixed, she saved a lot of money by not listening to the second worker.
