Rockstar Games has released the official launch trailer for *Grand Theft Auto VI*, giving fans another look at Vice City, its two protagonists, and the criminal underworld awaiting players when the game arrives November 19, 2026.
Published October 15, the roughly 90-second trailer quickly gained attention online, arriving more than a month before the long-awaited sequel’s release. The video offers cinematic footage, new story details, and original music from French electronic duo Justice.
The trailer opens with Jason discussing his troubled departure from the military before shifting toward his relationship with Lucia, the game’s other playable protagonist. Their partnership sits at the center of a sprawling criminal conspiracy in Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional version of Florida.
The timing is especially notable. More than 13 years after *Grand Theft Auto V* launched in September 2013, Rockstar is preparing to release its successor. Rather than another lengthy presentation of game mechanics, the company has chosen to showcase the atmosphere, characters, and music that will define its newest open-world crime story.
Inside the Trailer

The footage begins with Jason reflecting on his military background, suggesting that his departure from the armed forces was anything but straightforward. His connection with Lucia becomes increasingly important as the trailer progresses.
According to Rockstar’s official announcement, the pair become entangled in a conspiracy stretching across Leonida after a seemingly straightforward criminal job goes wrong.
The trailer emphasizes Vice City’s distinctive atmosphere, combining sun-soaked streets, nightlife, violence, and the criminal activity that has defined the franchise for decades.
Despite its launch-trailer designation, the video concentrates on cinematic storytelling rather than explaining gameplay systems or introducing specific new mechanics.
Justice Takes Center Stage
One of the trailer’s biggest revelations concerns the game’s soundtrack.
Rockstar confirmed that French electronic duo Justice composed the original score for *Grand Theft Auto VI*, bringing their distinctive electronic sound to the franchise.
The trailer features their new single, “Flower in a Hurricane,” featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
The song is also included on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, which Rockstar has made available for pre-save on major streaming platforms and pre-order on physical formats.
Music has long been an important component of the *Grand Theft Auto* series, particularly through its fictional radio stations. Justice’s involvement also gives the upcoming game an original musical identity beyond its licensed tracks.
Unusual Trailer Timing
Releasing a launch trailer more than a month before the game becomes available is an unusual marketing decision, particularly for such a highly anticipated title.
The trailer also arrives amid reports of unfinished gameplay footage circulating online. However, Rockstar has not publicly established a connection between those leaks and its October 15 announcement.
The company had already offered a much more substantial look at the game on August 27, when it released an extended presentation examining the upcoming title.
That earlier footage provided more extensive information about the game’s world and features. The new trailer instead returns the focus to Jason, Lucia, and the cinematic presentation of Vice City.
November Release Confirmed
Rockstar continues to list November 19, 2026, as the official release date for *Grand Theft Auto VI* on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The game returns players to Vice City, the fictional Miami-inspired location previously featured in *Grand Theft Auto: Vice City* and *Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories*.
This time, the setting extends across Leonida, introducing a larger fictional Florida landscape and a story built around two central characters.
The official GTA VI website also lists pre-orders for the standard game and an Ultimate Edition, alongside additional information about its characters, locations, and music.
Rockstar has not announced a PC release date.
