Classic Ford Broncos have become popular candidates for restomod projects, and this 1969 example shows why. With its vintage styling, modern V8 engine, and upgraded running gear, it combines the character of an early Bronco with some welcome mechanical improvements.
The two-door off-roader is scheduled to cross the block at Mecum’s Dallas/Fort Worth auction on October 24, 2026. Listed as Lot S100, it features a comprehensive rebuild, although the auction house hasn’t disclosed an estimated selling price.
Finished in green with a contrasting white roof, the Bronco keeps the straightforward appearance that helped make the original model so recognizable. Chrome bumpers, chunky tires, and a lifted stance give it a purposeful look without dramatically altering its classic design.
The biggest changes are found beneath the bodywork, where the original powertrain has given way to modern Ford hardware. Its interior has also received several upgrades, although the overall layout is refreshingly simple.
A Modern Coyote V8 Under The Hood

The centerpiece of the build is Ford’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8, replacing the engine originally fitted to the Bronco. It’s paired with an automatic transmission, while a custom intake and dual exhaust help complete the conversion.
Mecum hasn’t published horsepower or torque figures, so we don’t know the engine’s exact output. An upgraded aluminum radiator is also fitted to help manage cooling demands.
Unlike the current Bronco, which is offered with turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines, this restomod benefits from the sound and character of a naturally aspirated V8.
Upgraded Suspension And Off-Road Hardware

The Bronco features a lift kit, James Duff ladder bars, and upgraded suspension components. Its aluminum eight-hole beadlock wheels are wrapped in Nitto tires, complementing the raised ride height.
Power steering and power brakes are also included, offering improvements over the more basic driving experience associated with early Broncos. Mecum hasn’t provided a complete breakdown of the suspension modifications or braking hardware.
A Simple Cabin With Modern Touches

Inside, the Bronco has a minimalist dashboard finished in body-matching green. A Holley digital instrument display provides modern vehicle information without overwhelming the otherwise traditional interior.
Black bucket seats, a center console, and a wood-rimmed sport steering wheel complete the cabin. A roll cage incorporates a speaker system, adding another practical touch to the customized interior.
It’s a fitting combination of classic styling and modern hardware, and its upcoming auction appearance will reveal how much bidders are willing to pay for it.
