A 7-Eleven in Washington’s Yakima County became the scene of an early-morning crash Wednesday after a vehicle went into the building while a passenger and store employee were inside.
Yakima County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the Terrace Heights store around 2 a.m. on Oct. 7 for what the agency described as a vehicle-versus-building collision.
Despite the impact, deputies said the 51-year-old driver, a passenger in the vehicle, and the store employee were not injured.
The driver, who is from Wapato, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of DUI, two counts of reckless endangerment, and driving with a suspended license.

Photos shared by the sheriff’s office show the extent of the damage inside the convenience store following the collision.
Shelving and merchandise can be seen scattered across the floor near the vehicle, underscoring how differently the crash could have ended with people inside the business.
The sheriff’s office pointed to the collision as an example of the dangers of impaired driving.
Booked Into Jail
Deputies did not publicly identify the driver in their initial post or provide additional details about what led to the vehicle leaving the roadway and entering the store.
The agency said the driver was booked into jail on the DUI, reckless endangerment, and suspended license allegations.
An arrest and criminal charges are not findings of guilt. The allegations against the driver would have to be established through the court process.
