A stolen vehicle that had already traveled through multiple Idaho jurisdictions apparently did not get much farther once a license plate reader in Greenleaf spotted it. Wilder Police say the driver still tried, leading officers down Highway 95 before he and two passengers abandoned the vehicle and continued their escape on foot.

The Wilder Police Department learned on September 22 that a vehicle stolen during a carjacking in Boise had entered its jurisdiction after previously passing an automated license plate reader in Caldwell. At approximately 11:14 p.m., another Flock Safety reader in Greenleaf detected the vehicle traveling west.

A Wilder officer intercepted the vehicle, which police say was driven by 20-year-old Jordan Kinsey with 21-year-old Yoli Zepeda and 18-year-old Alyjah Malacara riding as passengers. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Highway 95, but police say Kinsey failed to yield and a pursuit began.

The chase continued south on Highway 95 and entered Homedale before reaching South Main Street. Police say the vehicle finally stopped in the 500 block, where all three occupants got out and ran into a residential area.

Officers searched the surrounding neighborhood and eventually located Kinsey, Zepeda and Malacara, according to Wilder Police. All three were taken into custody, and investigators also recovered a firearm that had previously been reported stolen in Ada County.

Police charged Kinsey with felony possession of a stolen vehicle and felon in possession of a firearm. He additionally faces misdemeanor charges of eluding, resisting and obstructing, and driving without privileges, while Zepeda and Malacara were each charged with misdemeanor resisting and obstructing.

The case brought together considerably more than Wilder Police alone, with the department crediting officers and deputies from Homedale, Canyon County, Caldwell, Owyhee County and Boise for assisting. Idaho Department of Correction Probation and Parole also participated, according to the department’s release.

Online Records Show More

Idaho Department of Correction records researched for this story provide some additional context for Kinsey’s status at the time of his latest arrest. As of September 24, IDOC listed Kinsey under department number 166864, identified his physical location as the Owyhee County Jail, and showed him as being supervised through District 4 in Boise.

The same record lists an active Ada County sentence for controlled substance possession in case CR01-26-21710. Its status is listed as probation, with Kinsey released to supervision on September 10, 2026, and a sentence satisfaction date of September 9, 2031.

That means the September 22 pursuit occurred 12 days after the release-to-supervision date shown by IDOC, although the records provided do not state whether his latest arrest has resulted in any separate probation proceeding. Wilder Police say the investigation ended with all three occupants in custody and credited cooperation among Treasure Valley law enforcement agencies for the arrests.

As always, these are arrests, not convictions, and all suspects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
