A convoy of supercars heading to a wedding in the United Kingdom ended up making an unexpected stop before the celebrations. Several of the exotic cars were seized after police received reports about their behavior on two major motorways.
The group included enough high-end machinery to make for an impressive wedding arrival, with photos showing Lamborghinis, Audi R8s, and a Mercedes-AMG G63. Police, however, claim some of the drivers were using the journey as an opportunity to put on a dangerous display.
According to the Avon and Somerset Roads Policing Unit, officers received several calls reporting high-performance cars being driven dangerously on the M4 and M5 highways. Police subsequently located the convoy and seized several vehicles, while drivers were reported for alleged offenses.
Authorities haven’t detailed exactly what driving behavior prompted the complaints or what speeds were involved. Further inquiries are continuing as police attempt to identify other vehicles that may have been involved.
Police Seized Several Supercars
Photos released by the Roads Policing Unit show what appears to be an expensive collection of vehicles parked together following the operation. Among them are two Audi R8 Spyders, three Lamborghini Huracáns, and a Mercedes-AMG G63.
Police haven’t said whether every vehicle pictured was seized for the same alleged behavior. It is also unclear whether the cars belonged to the people driving them or had been rented specifically for the wedding.
What authorities have confirmed is that several vehicles were seized and multiple drivers were reported. No additional information was provided about potential charges or when the owners might get their cars back.
The Convoy Was Heading To A Wedding
The Roads Policing Unit said it understood that the drivers were traveling to a friend’s wedding celebration, which inspired some colorful commentary from officers, who acknowledged the horsepower involved while making it clear they weren’t impressed by the alleged driving.
“Despite the impressive performance of the vehicles,” police wrote, “horsepower doesn’t replace common sense.” Officers also warned that a motorway isn’t the place for a wedding convoy to become what they described as a “rolling supercar showcase.”
A group of Huracáns and R8s traveling together was always going to attract attention, especially on a busy motorway. In this instance, police said the problem was that this particular convoy allegedly attracted the wrong kind of attention.
Police Are Still Investigating
The investigation hasn’t necessarily ended with the cars already seized. Police say they’re conducting further inquiries to identify other vehicles believed to have been involved in the alleged offenses.
That means additional drivers from the wedding convoy could still hear from authorities. Police haven’t provided a timeline for the investigation or identified the individuals involved.
Arriving at a wedding in a convoy of supercars certainly has the potential to make an entrance, but we’d argue that it’s even more memorable to have several of them end up in police custody before the reception even takes place.
