A routine traffic stop in Arizona became considerably less routine when a Pinal County Sheriff’s Office deputy looked inside the vehicle and apparently didn’t have to search very hard for evidence. According to PCSO, the woman behind the wheel had a meth pipe sitting directly in her lap when the deputy approached.
The department says the driver had originally been pulled over for speeding, making the discovery about as straightforward as traffic stops get. PCSO joked that the speeder had simply “forgotten to put her meth pipe away,” adding, “Sometimes, they make it easy…”
Things only became stranger during the interaction, with the driver at one point declaring, “I can’t even do this sober.” Considering what deputies say was sitting in plain view at the time, that probably wasn’t the most reassuring statement she could have made.
PCSO shared footage of the encounter on social media, where the driver’s behavior quickly became just as much of a talking point as the pipe itself. Between her comments, laughter, and the remarkably conspicuous piece of paraphernalia, viewers had plenty to work with.

The video is taken from the point of view of the officer who pulled the woman over’s body camera. After approaching the car, the officer tells the driver that he saw that she sped up to about fifteen miles over the speed limit as well as fail to use her turn signals when switching lanes.
Unfortunately, by this point, the officer has already seen the meth pipe that the woman had attempted to hide in a black handkerchief. Almost immediately, the woman realized just how much trouble she was in and started pleading with the officer not to escalate the situation because she had just gotten out of jail.
The woman explains that she has a friend who can pick her up and take her to treatment in exchange for not going to jail, so the officer offers another solution: prove she isn’t impaired with a field sobriety test. One after the other, the officer administered various tests, and the woman failed at just about all of them in one way or another.
At the end of the stop, there were several officers at the scene, and the driver was informed that she was going to be put under arrest for DUI. After trying to plead with the officers again, she asked about her dog, since it was still inside her vehicle, and was told that her car would be towed. However, it isn’t exactly clear what would happen, but there is an implication that the officers would take care of it.
Comments Couldn’t Get Over the Driver’s Behavior
Commenters wasted little time turning the unusual encounter into material, with one summing up the situation with the painfully appropriate pun, “That’s meth’d up.” Another jokingly recreated the sort of excuse someone might give police, writing, “Officially Honester. I’m not as think as you stoned, I am.”
Others were far more entertained by the driver’s demeanor in the footage, particularly her laughter throughout the interaction. One viewer joked that they would “arrest her for that laugh alone,” while another compared her behavior to someone who thought she was “a contestant on a game show.”
Another commenter poked fun at the explanation surrounding the stop by joking, “I was gonna go get my girlfriend so she could take me to treatment.” Whatever explanation the driver may have had, viewers seemed to agree on one thing: having what police identified as a meth pipe sitting in your lap when an officer walks up to the window isn’t exactly making their investigation difficult.
