Drivers in Quebec recently discovered a very cheesy situation. A semi-truck carrying powdered mac and cheese rolled onto its side near Montréal and covered a highway ramp in bright orange powder.
The crash happened around 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, in Brossard, Quebec. The truck had just crossed the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge and was taking the exit toward Route 132.
The semi-truck then landed on its side and blocked the ramp. The driver was taken to a hospital, but luckily, his injuries were not life-threatening.
Crews had to close the entire ramp while removing the truck and cleaning up the powder. The crash also caused heavy traffic for people trying to reach Montréal’s South Shore.
The Highway Ramp Turned Bright Orange

TVA Nouvelles reported that the orange powder is used to make Kraft Dinner.
The Driver Was Taken to a Hospital
The driver reportedly had trouble making it around the curve before the truck tipped onto its side. The reports did not say whether speed or another factor contributed to the crash.
Emergency crews arrived shortly afterward and took the driver to a hospital. His injuries were described as minor. The Sûreté du Québec is investigating what happened with help from provincial road safety inspectors. No other injuries were reported.
Another Truck Overturned There in July
This was not the first semi-truck to roll over on the same curve this summer. Another truck overturned there on July 29, just one month before the mac and cheese spill.
TVA Nouvelles added that the earlier truck was traveling too quickly when its trailer tipped onto its side.
That driver also escaped with minor injuries.
