A California driver’s attempt at doing donuts ended with a lot more than tire marks on the pavement. The red pickup hit a curb and a light pole, leaving the truck disabled and headed for a 30-day impound.
The Galt Police Department said the pickup was doing donuts near Spaans Drive and Moore Court in Galt when things went wrong.
After losing control, the driver hit a curb and a light pole, damaging the truck badly enough that it was completely disabled. Nobody was injured in the crash.
A citation for exhibition of speed followed, along with a 30-day impound for the pickup.
Donuts End With a 30-Day Timeout
Circular tire marks cover the roadway in the photo shared by police, while the disabled pickup sits nearby. Galt Police joked that the truck would be “sitting this one out” for the next 30 days.
No name was released for the person behind the wheel, and the post did not include an estimate for the damage to the light pole. It’s also unclear how much the 30-day stay could cost in towing or storage fees, whether the pole will need to be replaced, or who will ultimately pay for the damage.
Commenters Had Plenty to Say About the Donut Marks
Those circles on the pavement quickly became part of the conversation. One person asked whether anyone else could see a Pepsi logo in one of the tire marks.
Another gave the light pole a voice, joking, “I’m still standing!” Someone else imagined the next conversation beginning with a request to borrow Mom’s car for work.
The potential bill drew attention too. A commenter said whoever was responsible should have to clean the rubber off the street, pay for the light pole, and cover the costs of having the truck in impound, while another asked how much the daily impound fees would be.
Those costs weren’t disclosed in the post.
Police Say Another Vehicle Is Already on Their Radar
Attention also turned to a Mustang that one commenter claimed had been doing donuts at intersections on the west side of town.
Galt Police responded, “The vehicle is on our radar.”
No additional details about the Mustang were provided, and the commenter’s allegation does not establish that its driver committed an offense. The red pickup, meanwhile, already had a much clearer outcome: an exhibition-of-speed citation and a 30-day impound.
